“I’ve been driving Datsun for more than two years. Acquired at the end of 2016 from an authorized dealer. Prior to this, at different times, Citroen C3 (2011) and BMW 1 Series (2008) were owned. When the question arose of buying a new car, I realized that I needed a more budget option. My wife and I have our own house, in which at that moment we had just started a large-scale renovation. I didn’t want to get into a loan - this is not the financial situation. We had 550 thousand rubles in our hands, and we managed to meet this amount.
Roomy trunk and other buns
I basically looked for a car with zero mileage. I wanted to leave at least the first three years with minimal investment. For a long time I was looking for such an option at car dealerships, choosing between Hyundai Solaris, Kia Rio and Lada Vesta. But in the end, he chose Datsun on-DO. The determining factor was the price. In addition, it is not capricious in maintenance and it has a very roomy trunk (volume 530 liters. - Note “At the wheel”). I immediately figured out that with such a machine we won’t have any questions about how to transport building materials. And I was not mistaken.
Of the advantages, I can also note a large clearance (174 mm) and a surprisingly soft suspension. This is especially noticeable after BMW. The machine well swallows any bumps and pits, and thanks to the high landing I feel confident even in off-road conditions. On previous machines, you could only dream about it.
My wife and I often travel abroad. On one of these trips and went to Datsun six months after its purchase. The ultimate goal of our route was the Czech Republic. We drove through Belarus, Poland. In addition, they visited Austria and Germany. On the road, the car never failed, not a single hint of a malfunction. Before the trip, I decided to play it safe and put a liter of oil in the trunk. I still have not needed this jar.
The car is quite inexpensive to maintain. So far, my Datsun is under warranty, and I mainly deal with oil and consumables. Several times responded to invitations of service centers to undergo diagnostics. I did nothing more with the machine. A maximum of 10 thousand rubles is spent on such manipulations per year. According to the regulations, maintenance must be performed every 15 thousand kilometers, but I try to drive the car into the service after 10 thousand. Even maybe a little earlier.
Have to make room
Datsun mi-DO: three years and 60, 000 km
Before buying, I read a lot of printed and online articles about Datsun on-DO, reviewed various video reviews. Frankly negative reviews about the car, I did not find. After a while, as the owner, I can still highlight a few shortcomings.
First of all, in Datsun uncomfortable seats. Although the developers claim that they have undergone qualitative changes compared to those installed in the platform grant, the seats are still not good enough. And the passengers sitting behind will be uniquely crowded. This is a kind of payment for a spacious trunk.
Another unpleasant moment is the poor quality of the paintwork. Chips began to appear after the first year of operation. Weaknesses - thresholds and trunk lid. So now every season it’s necessary to carry out an audit and tint something somewhere.
Hard plastic and dim headlight
To the list of minuses, I would also include hard plastic interior. Of course, I understand everything: the car is budgetary, and for this price, even some kind of weak hints of a premium class should not be expected. Still, I would like the plastic to be softer. Because over time, he will certainly make himself felt - he will begin to creak and tap on the pits. This phenomenon is not considered a warranty case, so you have to disassemble and glue the panel yourself. I just don’t have enough time for this yet.
The brightness of the high and low beam lamps (in Datsun on-DO it is combined) also leaves much to be desired. In a standard headlight there is an H4 lamp. There is definitely not enough light, especially when driving on the highway.
All the negative and positive aspects in the operation of the car, I have already voiced customer service Datsun Russia. From time to time I call up with them and really hope that the reviews and wishes of the drivers will make the car better. Several times I was interested in specialists when restyling is planned, but so far nothing has been heard about it.
About consumption I’ll say this: for me it’s quite acceptable, but I would like the car to “eat” even less. In the city it goes around 9-10 liters per hundred, about 6-6.5 on the highway. I talked with the owners of Grants - they have about the same situation.
I can not add a few words about the engine. I have a 87-horsepower eight-valve VAZ-11186 engine under the hood. It has a very nice transport tax - I pay only about 800 rubles a year. True, there is a flip side to the coin: the engine is noisy - that at idle, that while driving.
