In two years, a modernized body will appear (deep restyling plus platform refinement with an eye on changes in the mechanics) and, with almost one hundred percent probability, a fresh interior. GM will be engaged in engineering, and the stamping of parts and body welding will remain with AvtoVAZ.

Let me remind you that the most vulnerable link in the chain from the engine to the wheels is not the drive shafts, gearboxes and “razdatka”, but the gearbox. The joint venture does not have another domestic (read - inexpensive) manual gearbox for longitudinal installation. So you have to focus on its capabilities.

It turns out that the flight of design thought has become a hostage to existing production facilities? Absolutely right! But even in an evolutionary way, using the available units, thoroughly updating the Chevrolet Niva is quite realistic.

Given that generations of SUVs are replaced much less often than cars, there is a chance to wait for the release of the millionth Niva. In the best years, the joint venture produced about 60 thousand Niva a year, now - a little over 30 thousand. If the updated car spur sales, then we will see the anniversary Chevrolet Niva much earlier than in ten years.
