The Renault Kaptur crossover appeared in 2016 as a more youthful version of the Renault Duster, with which it shares the platform and most of the technical elements. The idea of creating such a model belongs to the Russian office. It was argued that the European front-wheel drive Captur will not be popular with us, because we need a different model. What happened in the end? Bend your fingers.
1. He is stylish
Unlike the Renault Duster, whose appearance is somewhat conservative, Kaptur is full of modern style. From the front, he almost exactly repeats the European Captur, but our car is a little larger, and its ground clearance (according to the measurements of ZR - 205 mm) is quite off-road.

Like the Frenchman, the Russian Kaptur has ample opportunities for individualization, for example, in expensive trim levels, its body can be two-tone (the roof contrasts with the rest of the body).
2. An interesting salon
Renault Kaptur refers to the budget crossovers, and therefore the materials for the decoration are appropriate. But many solutions migrated from the European Captur almost unchanged. Some of them are in the spirit of the French school of design and seem strange, but they cannot be denied originality.

For example, a dashboard with a digital speedometer and a climate control unit: they are exactly the same as on the European crossover. Here, the other front seats are more comfortable than in Duster: they better support the body and are more rigid.
3. Reliability
The Global Access platform that gave birth to Captura is an evolution of the earlier B0, on which the first Logan was built. So do not look for any innovations in the crossover. But the car is reliable, as its power units and assemblies are time-tested. Renault Kaptur is front-wheel drive (with a 1.6-liter engine with 114 hp) and all-wheel drive (with a 2-liter engine with 143 hp).

Power plants cannot boast of high throttle response, especially when it comes to paired with an ancient 4-speed automatic. Do not expect quickness either, but the risk of breakdowns is unlikely, and the cost of repairs is not as high as that of more modern and expensive classmates.
4. The worse, the better
On flat asphalt, especially at high speeds, the comfort of the Renault Kaptur is three-quarters, but the worse the road becomes, the more classy it seems. Pits and potholes of medium size literally dissolve in the suspension, and thanks to the rather large suspension moves and small overhangs, the car feels pretty confident when overcoming serious (in the understanding of the crossover, of course) impassability with broken terrain and on a muddy road.

5. Friends with Yandex
This summer there was a special version of Renault Kaptur called Play. In addition to decorative elements in the exterior and interior decoration, this version received a multimedia system with integrated Yandex services. Yandex. Avto combines navigation with traffic jams, allows you to stream music from Yandex. Music, find out the weather forecast, has a voice assistant and voice control on board.
