WAY UP
The famous GAZ 61, created in the late thirties of the last century at the Gorky Automobile Plant, is a real SUV with a comfortable body from the "emochka", which is not a shame to look at today. To demonstrate the outstanding off-road qualities of the car, the testers climbed on it through logs with a diameter of about 40 cm, crawled along the blurry arable land and even climbed the stairs. The conquest of the steps was especially spectacular, and therefore was repeated several times - on the banks of the Oka River, near Gorky, and on the Moscow River, near the capital's Northern River Station. During the war, these machines used the highest command of the army.
Flywheel and ECONOMY
Perhaps the first ever hybrid car with a flywheel energy accumulator was created on the basis of the “UAZ 450 tadpole” in 1966. The front axle was driven by a gasoline engine, and the rear axle received energy from a hybrid installation. The work of the hybrid was manually controlled by its inventor and flywheel apologist Nurbey Gulia. The chair for him was placed behind the cabin, with his back in the direction of movement. They say that the prototype accelerated very famously and saved almost 50% of the fuel.

Washing your personal car half a century ago was both simple and difficult at the same time. Car washes almost did not exist. To shoot the film “Diamond Hand”, they even specially built a car wash in the center of Sochi. It was possible to charge the automation with a wash unless in car services, car plants and taxi fleets, where ordinary motorists were not allowed. Usually the issue was decided by agreement - per ruble. On the other hand, there was no real need for such a service, because each owner washed his car himself - in the yard, in the country, on the side of the road, pouring from a bucket. In the dashing nineties, teenagers offered such a service: the boys were on duty along city embankments and scooped water directly from the river with buckets on a rope. Others added to the water … washing powder.
REACTIVE Tram
In order to clear the Chelyabinsk tram tracks from snow and ice, an unusual tram was made in the last century … with a jet engine. According to the creators, the jet stream was supposed to eliminate snow blockages, blowing rails with hot air. However, the jet janitor failed to work out in real conditions for a long time.
WHEEL FORMULA 24 × 24
When the mass of the rocket exceeds one hundred tons, and the length exceeds 22 meters, the carrier cannot be envied. However, MAZ 7907, which appeared in 1985, conscientiously coped with the task. Engine power was 1250 hp, and 24 motor-wheels with a diameter of 1.66 meters each provided the huge machine with excellent maneuverability: the turning radius was "only" 27 meters. This was achieved due to the fact that 16 wheels were steered and, if necessary, could turn in antiphase: the front four pairs - in the direction of the turn, the rear four pairs - in the opposite, and the four pairs in the middle remained in the upright position. The articulated frame and long wheel suspension provided the vehicle with a design combat weight of about 200 tons, good cross-country ability on dirt roads with a complex profile and a maximum speed of up to 40 km / h.
