New YaMZ turbodiesels: envy, Europe Engines for buses manufactured in Likine-Dulyovo are produced by YaMZ. These motors are the result of the joint work of Yaroslavl and the Austrian company AVL. The six-cylinder YaMZ 536 with a working volume of 6.65 l develops a power of 240-312 hp, the four-cylinder YaMZ 534 with a volume of 4.3 l produces 190-210 hp

In November 2016, in Yaroslavl, YaMZ 534 CNG and YaMZ 536 CNG engines (from 150 to 312 hp) were put on the conveyor. The abbreviation CNG stands for compressed natural gas. Both motors are not prone to overheating and will find application on trucks and buses designed specifically for operation in the city.

The fuel system is the Bosch common rail, the injection pressure is 1800 bar (with the possibility of increasing to 2000 bar). To meet Euro 4 and Euro 5 environmental standards, the motors were equipped with liquid-cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems. In terms of efficiency, the engines of the YaMZ 530 family are able to compete with foreign ones, while it is 20-30% cheaper. The declared resource of diesel “fours” is not less than 700 thousand kilometers, “sixes” - 900 thousand.

The new engines significantly reduced the noise and vibration at the rear of the bus compared to the previous Cummins and Caterpillar engines.

Automatic transmissions on the new LiAZs are imported - electronically controlled ZF EcoLife or Allison Transmission T2100 or T270. Both 6-speed, with a torque converter lock in each gear. The torque converter is also used as a retarder, and it is integrated into the working brake system, which allows you to protect the pads. Another machine is the 4-speed Voith Diwa D 864. Imported boxes significantly increase the price of the bus, but GAZ Group is already working on its own family of automatic machines with torque converters.

On the Likin low-floor, ZF leading portal bridges with tricky final drives are installed. Schematically, they are similar to the army bridges of UAZs and Benz Unimog off-road vehicles. Such bridges allow you to lower the floor from a height of 405 mm from the ground to 205 mm - of course, using the appropriate tires.

Will domestic portal bridges appear? There is hope that their release will be mastered in Chuvashia, at the Kanashsky auto-aggregate plant, which is part of the GAZ Group.
