In an interview with our publication (ZR No. 7, 2015), Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and the Development of Road Transport Infrastructure Maxim Liksutov said that the task of the Moscow government is to give motorists an alternative and provide an opportunity to comfortably travel by public transport. Many considered this an empty promise. But, as it turned out, very soon many will be able to get to work with comfort and without a personal car.

We have already written about the reform of land urban passenger transport in the capital (see the interview with the deputy head of the Department for the Development of Transport Communications of the Moscow Deptrans Sergey Smirnov). Its essence is updating the city transport fleet, on the one hand, and introducing private carriers into a single transport system, on the other. Moreover, private drivers will be required to work at a civilized level and provide comfort to passengers. The city will retain private owners 30% of the market share - this is what carriers have now (according to state contracts, the city will leave 211 routes for them in 9 districts of the capital). Routes are played at an auction between applicants who are ready to provide passengers with quality and safe service. Total auctions 63. Following the results of auctions with carriers, they will sign five-year state contracts that specify the duties of private owners and the city. This model of work of commercial carriers with the city successfully works in world capitals - Berlin, London, Vienna, Budapest. I hope that the level of passenger traffic in Moscow will also be at the European level. And there are all prerequisites for this.

Firstly, it is cheaper

Mercedes-Benz will supply Moscow 100 buses for 1 billion rubles

To get to work by public transport, I, like most residents of the capital, need to take a bus (tram, trolley, minibus) to the metro. Further on the subway to the end point. If only minibuses go to the metro, then travel for a year will cost a serious amount. One trip - 35 rubles. On average 22 business days per month. Total - more than 18, 000 rubles a year! After the reform, a similar fare will be 30-40 percent cheaper. And that's why. Only uniform city transport tickets will be accepted for payment. For example, with frequent use of the TAT pass, the average cost of one trip will be about 14 rubles. Thus, it will be possible to save on travel 11 thousand rubles a year! At the same time, the benefits that exist today on public transport will operate on private buses. Now all the capital's transport will be available to 4.5 million beneficiaries of Moscow. But even the ordinary residents of the city, the new system will help to save significantly. And if the trip by public transport becomes cheaper, how will things be in comfort?

Secondly, it is comfortable

Safety and comfort are key requirements for carriers in the new system. Transfer from an automobile to an unsightly minibus cannot force me. And such (old and emergency) will not be released to the line. They will be replaced by new, safe and comfortable buses. It can be buses of small, medium and large capacity. According to the city contract, transport should not be older than 2 years and below the Euro-4 standard. Buses are equipped with climate control and electronic passenger information systems, making it convenient for sedentary passengers. Soon, the rolling stock will even go online - buses and ground transportation stops will be equipped with Wi-Fi Internet access points. Also, all private buses will be issued in the brand of Moscow transport and painted in recognizable blue color. What is not Europe?

Passengers will be able to learn about the real schedule of public transport right at the bus stop. Already now, information boards are working regularly at many city stops, and by the end of this year the capital will be equipped with another 200 stop pavilions. True, so far the information on such displays is not always correct, but we are promised that this problem will be solved by autumn.

Thirdly, it is convenient and safe

Without a steering wheel: we are looking for an alternative to taxi and public transport

In addition to replacing old buses with new ones, work is underway to optimize public, including private, public transport routes. In the special project “Our Routes”, more than 800 proposals for updating the transport network were collected. Six new bus routes have appeared. That is, the routes are built based on the interests of residents. For safety, state contracts expressly prohibit stopping “on demand” (at the crossing, at the bend or “right here, opposite the entrance”). This is done to reduce the number of accidents.
