We replace the pads of the Chevrolet Cobalt car in case of maximum permissible wear of their pads, oiling of the pads or the presence of deep furrows, cracks and chips on them, as well as in the case of peeling of the pads from the base of the pads. The pads must also be replaced when replacing the brake disc. The outer pads are equipped with acoustic indicators of wear, which begin to make a rattle during braking, when the wear of the lining approaches the maximum permissible value. If a rattle sounds when braking the car, then it's time to change the pads.
Attention! The brake pads of the front wheels must be replaced only with a set - all four brake pads. Replacing the pads of only one brake mechanism can lead to the car being pulled to the side during braking
If the fluid level in the tank of hydraulic brakes and clutch is located on the MAX mark, then before installing new pads with a syringe or rubber bulb, we pump out part of the tank from the tank so that when the piston is recessed into the brake cylinder, the fluid does not leak out from under the tank cover.
We remove the front wheel and securely fix the car on a factory-made stand. We turn the steering wheel all the way in the direction on which we replace the brake pads.
We show the replacement of the pads on the brake mechanism of the left wheel, on the brake mechanism of the right wheel of the pad we replace the same way.

Prying off with a screwdriver, we release the spring lock of the outer block.
2297-17-02-02
Remove the latch.
Through the caliper window, insert a screwdriver with a wide blade between the inner brake pad and the piston end.
2297-17-02-03
Leaning on the block with a screwdriver, we recess the piston into the cylinder and slide the caliper along the guide fingers.
2297-17-02-04
Remove the covers of the anti-squeak bushings of both guide fingers.
2297-17-02-05
Turn the lower guide pin with the hexagon “7”.
2297-17-02-06
Take out your finger.
Similarly, we turn off and remove the upper guide pin.
2297-17-02-07
We remove the brake caliper together with the pads and place it on the pad guide so that the brake hose is not tightened.
2297-17-02-08
Pry off the outer brake pad with a screwdriver.
2297-17-02-09
We take out the brake pad from the caliper.
2297-17-02-10
Overcoming the resistance of the petals of the spring retainer of the inner shoe, we remove it from the hole in the piston of the working cylinder and remove the inner brake shoe.
Before installing new pads, we clean the parts of the brake mechanism from dirt, corrosion and wear products. It is forbidden to use gasoline and diesel fuel to clean the brake mechanisms.
Inspect the condition of the guide pin bushings.

If the sleeve is damaged, remove it from the caliper hole and replace it.
Before installing new brake pads, the piston must be moved as far as possible inside the cylinder.
2297-17-02-12
To do this, carefully, so as not to damage the piston boot, we slide the piston into the cylinder with sliding pliers.
We assemble the brake mechanism of the Chevrolet Cobalt car in the reverse sequence.
When installing the outer shoe, it must be oriented so that the acoustic wear indicator is located below the caliper. The guide fingers are tightened with a moment of 35 N · m.
