This pilot project from a well-known automaker is welcome. Judge for yourself: until now, you and I could get an idea of the market value of a used car only from the online catalogs of offers of used cars. Now it is proposed to look at the market more soberly. The first pancake, however, was not without a coma.
The study affected about 2, 000 used cars of both brands aged 1-3 years, sold in January - November by JLR dealers as part of the Selected branded program (only officially imported cars can take part in our country). This is only a quarter of all transactions on the sale of cars of both brands in the secondary market, excluding, say, direct sales of cars by individuals.
The residual value was calculated according to a simple (one might even say - too simplified) scheme: it consisted of the difference between the price of a new base model without options and the real price of a used copy under a sales contract. The options fell out of view for the following reason: according to Dmitry Sharovatov, head of the used car and corporate sales department at JLR, only 10% of their value remains after the first year of operation, and after the second, almost nothing.

As it turned out, on average for 1-3 years of operation, the average Jaguar runs 14, 183 km per year. At the same time, after the year of operation, F-Type can earn 83.11% of the initial cost, and 72.8% for the two-year period. Recall, a year ago in our market this sports car was presented only in the form of a convertible.

According to Land Rover, the statistics are more presentable, because there are much more cars of this brand sold in the primary market, which means that their owners bring them to the trade-in more often (735 cars were investigated in total).
It is noteworthy that the best situation is with the brutal Defender, which the company recently announced the completion of production: it runs an average of 8735 km per year, while for a three-year period 78.25% of the initial cost can be returned. Finally, the residual value of Range Rover premium SUVs was calculated. The same Evoque showed a high rate during the sale during the first year of operation, a minimal drop in the second year and almost none in the third. But for the other two models of the brand - Range Rover and Range Rover Sport - the situation varies depending on the generation of the SUV (see table).
