On the old "Daewoo-Nexia" the electric wipers failed. In a couple of company stores, I was kindly invited to order the right product. Just wait would have been almost a month. Yes, and the price bites! Meanwhile, operating a car without wipers is only slightly safer than without brakes, so I began to look for a different solution. And so, having glanced at one auto-analysis, I found that a motor of the same purpose from the ancient "Zhigulenka" fits perfectly. And its price is only 200 rubles. True, to connect it correctly, I had to turn to an electrician, but that's another story. I will only add that the veteran motor has been serving without comment for more than a year.

Once the gas tank of my “swallow” was leaked, I found a leak only upon arrival in the village … A small fistula is within a millimeter, but how and what to fix? The material of the tank is plastic. The idea of brewing it with a soldering iron, hairdryer or burner, I rejected immediately. Many people talk about it easily until the hut burns out! But I am professionally familiar with the riveting gun. I drilled the fistula to the required size, inserted a rivet, pulled it out - and the leaks were gone.

Extraneous noises in the car never occur for no reason. Recently, turning on the ignition on an experienced VAZ-2111 station wagon, instead of the usual and barely perceptible singing of a gasoline pump, I heard a grinding sound. I decided to figure it out. He threw back the seat cushions - and saw that one of the screws securing the fuel pump flap was almost half twisted! With the fuel pump turned on, the cover and screw rattled. But why has this not been observed before? Before climbing into the bowels of the structure, I checked the mounts. And then it turned out that seven of the eight nuts are tightened well, and one lends itself to finger force. When I re-extended all the nuts, the noise disappeared. For myself, I concluded: a gasoline pump is a source of significant vibration, which only a reliable mount does not allow to roam. Inattention to him is unacceptable.

When replacing the front oil seal of the Renault-Duster all-terrain vehicle, it is also necessary to press in its body and put the inner lip of the oil seal on the oil pump drive bush. The latter does not have a chamfer, which is why the soft shoulder strives to wrap up - and the stuffing box can be damaged. I do this: from the side of a plastic bottle I cut a plate around the circumference of a length that is equal to the circumference of the sleeve, and a width of about 40 mm. Burrs polish with fine sandpaper. After that, having greased the gland flange with oil, I insert a plate into it, which, having taken the form of a cylinder, will serve as a guide collar when the gland is pressed in. The shoulder sits on the sleeve - and the plate can be removed. It is done!
