Is fuel system cleaner useful? If the engine has lost its former agility, but has increased its appetite and started to start poorly, the diagnostician at the service station will almost certainly say that the nozzles are clogged. Then he will advise them to rinse or completely change. But changing is expensive. Maybe the rinse is true? And not at the service, but on your own - pouring a fuel system cleaner into the tank. We decided to research four drugs: Liqui Moly and Autoprofi Line (Germany), Hi-Gear (USA) and the domestic Suprotek. Why buy some kind of drug if there are branded gasolines on sale that, according to the advertisement, should clean the engine? Yes, gasoline may contain detergents, although fuel regulations do not contain a corresponding requirement. And not all such gasolines are sold. In addition, they are more expensive. And the task of detergents is not to wash at all, but to prevent the formation of deposits. A contaminated engine when using these additives should not be polluted even more, but no one promises to reduce the level of deposits. In general, the fifth in the drug company was Lukoil Ecto A95_K5 gasoline - with detergents.

30% savings
The inscription on the jar - what you need: "We save up to 30% of fuel." The smell is wonderful - natural naphthalene. But this is not a cure for moths, but "a catalyst of organic origin … capable of influencing the molecular properties of organic liquid fuels by changing their structure and releasing the total energy contained in them." So, and not otherwise. The price of the can is 2600 rubles. It should be enough to process 1200 liters of fuel.

Displacing water from gasoline
In principle, the fuel system must be airtight - where does water come from in the gas tank? There are several ways of its penetration.
Firstly, ordinary condensate. When we fill in gasoline, atmospheric air having its own moisture enters the tank (especially if it is damp on the street).
Secondly, a certain amount of water gets directly from gasoline. Generally speaking, there is a technique for measuring the amount of H 2 O in a fuel truck. But often - for example, at suburban gas stations - this procedure is neglected: everything that is mixed in the “barrel” is poured into the tanks.

There is a third way: some high-octane gasoline components are hygroscopic, and therefore they themselves draw atmospheric moisture, which then precipitates in the fuel tank. We are no longer talking about pure crime, when the water is designed to conceal the intentional theft of fuel …
How to remove water? The solution “forehead” is known - to remove the gas tank and pour out all the water, and at the same time the dirt that has accumulated in it for years. It is clear that the business is troublesome - it is here that "goods for the lazy" usually appear. Shops offered us five different options for “water tank removers”. Judging by the descriptions, different alcohols should “cling” to the water … Besides them, something else is mixed in there: it both washes and lubricates, and even has an beneficial effect on the octane number. Well, let it remain on the conscience of the manufacturers. We are only interested in the main function - the ability to remove water from the tank.

Gasolines from different "cooks"
Do you know that gasolines of the same denomination can differ from each other not only by the octane number? In other words, several 95 gasolines, being quite normal, can behave differently in the engine … If you are interested, then look here.
Examination of Russian gasolines - from north to south
We examined gasolines from twelve different regions of Russia. Do they have a kind of “accent” - Kalmyk or, say, Arkhangelogorsk? And will the engine understand such “dialects”? Details are here.
2008 gasolines
Everyone who is interested in comparing the current state of “gasoline” affairs with the analysis of the 2008 sample is welcome here.
Should I go to Moscow for gas?
From time immemorial, it is generally accepted that Moscow is raking in all the best, leaving everyone else what they have to. We decided to verify this statement and bought gasolines of the same name in the capital and far beyond its borders. Here is what came of it.
Gasolines for old cars
What to do if the car is old, and there is no longer low-octane gas at the gas station? If you are interested, then read the findings of our examination.
Gas stations - "doubles"
Branded colors of well-known gas stations like SHELL or BP are easy to recognize from afar. And only during the refueling, sometimes it dawns on you that this is not a BP, but something yellow-green. And the names are funny: let's say, not TNK, but NTK, and not BP, but some kind of PB … This is what we are offered at double-filling stations.
