Opel Insignia

Opel Insignia Opel Insignia
In Europe, Opel Insignia has a leading position in the class: it is ahead of all competitors in sales except Volkswagen Passat. But in Russia is rare. Overseas station wagons with diesel engines are the most popular, 47 percent of sales are corporate, that is, official cars. We mainly sell sedans with gasoline engines. Well, “state-owned” cars in this segment are anything but Opel, although such an indicator as the cost of ownership is one of the best in the class.
Paradox! The car has been good since the start of production in 2008 - all the more attractive after the update. The car thoroughly retouched appearance. Bumpers, headlights, a radiator grill, taillights, fog lights and their niches became others. Such designer tricks are, of course, a matter of taste. But the best aerodynamics in the class is a completely objective indicator of the Insignia: Cx sedan 0.25, station wagon 0.28.
Brought into compliance and interior. Particularly noticeable changes in the center console. The former was overloaded with buttons, and the new one is simpler - there are fewer keys and twirls. But there was an 8-inch monitor infotainment system. The shape and location of the duct deflectors give, of course, the modernization of the old front panel. But progress is evident. What else has been added? Numerous electronic driver assistance systems. Without them, it’s better not to go into the market now, so this step is the imperative of the time. The front and rear suspensions have been modified, although the car has been well controlled before. The front seats with a very prestigious certificate in Germany "Movement for a healthy back" also offers not every manufacturer.
Salon of the new Insignia

The most notable interior changes are the new steering wheel, dashboard and center console. The most notable interior changes are the new steering wheel, dashboard and center console.
But the main thing is the range of new engines. As many as five pieces: both gasoline and diesel! For Europe. And for us, as always, a somewhat truncated set. I started with a 2-liter gasoline: turbocharging and direct injection gave it 250 horsepower, which drives the Country Tourer station wagon. This is a fashionable novelty: an all-wheel drive “barn” in an off-road plastic body kit. What can I say - handsome. On the go, obedient, quiet, comfortable. The right car. So much so that there is a feeling that some of the “horses” got lost in the bowels of an all-wheel drive transmission. Yes, it accelerates well, even very, but still the drive does not hit over the edge, and this is with a manual transmission. The talents of this, frankly, expensive configuration will reveal themselves on a country road or a snowy road. That's just the wheels for Russia need not so low profile and more toothy.
I change to a front-wheel drive sedan with an “automatic” and a 1.6 liter engine. Turbocharging, direct injection, 170 forces. The numbers say one thing, sensations say another. It should be slower than its predecessor - it is, but it is more pleasant for an active driver to drive it. How juicy the engine sounds when the gas pedal is sunk into the floor. How confidently we rush in the far left lane along with much more prestigious cars. Outsiders, let the "rider"! What did you forget in the left lane? Moreover, the front-wheel drive “Insignia” on the asphalt is controlled even more clearly by the all-wheel drive. At the place of the buyer, I would not overpay for a more powerful motor. This one will work perfectly for investments, and it will also make it economical. But the forbidden fruit: a sedan with a new 140-horsepower turbodiesel is not for our market. Cars for grandparents and taxi drivers? Nonsense! Of course, not a racing car, but almost two tons (myself, the driver and the passenger) are more than confident. And almost for nothing! Fuel consumption at a subcompact level is strong. Which Russian does not like fast driving in a solid car with an appetite of less than 4 liters per hundred? I like.
Universal "Country Tourer"

Universal "Country Tourer". New bumpers, lighting and, of course, a protective kit. Universal "Country Tourer". New bumpers, lighting and, of course, a protective kit.
It's time to remember about excellent aerodynamics. Together with a line of new economical engines, it brings Insignia to the top of the class in fuel consumption. So the manufacturer claims, and personally I did not find any reason not to believe him.
It is difficult to explain why in our country, Corsa and Astra are popular, and Insignia cannot yet repeat their success. From the point of view of common sense, the car has everything necessary to occupy a prominent place in sales statistics. And, I assure you, it is addressed not only to pragmatists. He is still handsome, comfortable and cozy. It’s worth a closer look.
