The fact that the next Cruze is on its way is clearly visible from spy photos taken during road tests in Scandinavia. Needless to say, the car on them is carefully camouflaged, but this only confirms that we have before us the almost final sample. And there is no doubt that it is precisely such a Chevrolet Cruze in the future that will begin to roll off the conveyors of the Dzhemovsky factories. Like the current one, it will remain a global model focused on various markets, and will be produced not only in America, but also in South Korea, Poland, Australia and at our St. Petersburg plant in Shushary. True, it was decided to postpone the debut of an almost finished new product until next year - it will take place, most likely, at the Paris Motor Show. And it will appear on sale at the end of 2014 or even the beginning of 2015, which is confirmed by insider information and information from suppliers of components.
What caused the delay? One of the reasons may well be the successful sale of the current generation. For example, in the Russian market, according to data for the current year, the Chevrolet Cruze in its segment is second only to the Ford Focus and is ahead of the Skoda Octavia and the sister Opel Astra. Cruze feels pretty well in the European market, and overseas its sales this year have even increased. So GM makes no sense to rush the generational change.

It is already known that the second Cruze is based on the new D2XX platform, which will be used in models such as the Opel Astra, Chevrolet Volt, Cadillac ELR, Buick Verano and Chevrolet Equinox. According to some reports, the next Chevrolet Cruze will retain the rear suspension with a twisted beam, which is quite logical for a relatively affordable car. But the line of powertrains will be updated. It is worth waiting for economical supercharged engines that meet modern strict environmental standards.

Of the external changes, we note an increased slope of the windshield struts and a more sloping roof line. Apparently, the wheelbase has grown. All together allows you to make the interior more spacious and roomy. Well, of course, the design will change. First of all, this applies to lighting technology and a newly defined radiator grille. In Russia, the first generation Chevrolet Cruze came in 2009 to replace the Chevrolet Lacetti. And the first market in which he debuted was South Korea, where he appeared in 2008 under the name Daewoo Lacetti Premiere. Cruze is built on the same Delta II platform as the latest generation Opel Astra. For the Russian market, both models are produced at one factory - in Shushary near St. Petersburg. Last year, the Chevrolet Cruze underwent light restyling. The updated cars are distinguished by new headlights, a radiator grill with horizontal slats instead of honeycombs and an updated bumper with a vertical framing of foglights. The interior has changed the design of the front panel. Last year, 63, 181 Chevrolet Cruze were sold, for the six months of this year - 24, 652 cars.
