Replacing the front brake pads
We replace the pads in the case of the maximum permissible wear of their pads, as well as when replacing the brake disc, oiling the pads or having deep grooves, cracks and chips on them, in the case of peeling of the pads from the base. The inner pads are equipped with acoustic wear indicators that indicate the need to replace with a rattle when braking. If the fluid level in the tank of hydraulic brakes and clutch is located on the MAX mark, then before installing new pads with a syringe or rubber bulb, we pump out some of the fluid from the tank so that when the piston is recessed into the brake working cylinder, it does not leak from under the tank cover. We remove the front wheel and install the car on a factory-made stand.

Before installation, we clean the parts of the brake mechanism from dirt and corrosion, especially the seats of the brake pads in the guide plates of the caliper and the guide pads. It is forbidden to use gasoline and diesel fuel to clean the brake mechanisms. If the protective covers of the guide fingers have been torn, replace them with new ones. We assemble the brake mechanism in the reverse order.
On a note

Oleg Getmanenko, editor:
- The pads of the brake mechanisms must be changed only as a set - all four pieces on both front (or rear) wheels. Replacing the pads of only one brake mechanism can lead to the car being pulled to the side with a sharp slowdown.
Replacing the rear brake pads
We remove the rear wheel and install the car on a factory-made stand. We show the replacement of the pads on the left rear wheel.

The upper and lower guide fingers differ from each other. Their coloring facilitates identification: the upper finger is yellow, the lower finger is silver. Before installing new brake pads, the piston must be moved as far as possible inside the cylinder. To do this, we offer two ways. At the first, a screw and a bracket from a two-grip screw puller are used, as well as a nut of a suitable size. The upper and lower guide fingers differ from each other. To recess the piston into the caliper cylinder, place the screw puller bar on the caliper protrusions and put a nut under the end of the screw. Turn the nut clockwise with a wrench and simultaneously tighten the screw. The nut will cause the piston to rotate by friction.
