For the experiment, I was allocated a new editorial “Grant”. Suitable for a novice driver! The machine is inexpensive, body parts are available for training what you need. One gearbox is worth it: if you manage, consider that any equipment is subject to you.
So, recently, traffic rules oblige drivers with experience of less than two years to mark the car with a special sign. I will assume that the two-year period is taken, as they say, from the ceiling. As if in two years the driver automatically becomes a professional! And if in five years he has never driven a car, do you count the experience or not? Apparently, the requirement was introduced at the request of the newcomers themselves, and each of them has the right to decide whether to hang up the yellow square. There is no liability for the absence of a mark. But since the rules of the road, let’s say, recommend having such a sign, then there is a secret meaning in this. I'll check on myself.
UNKNOWN KETTLE
To begin with, I will try to introduce myself as a novice driver and see how other traffic participants react to me, a young and inexperienced person, if the car does not have any special identification marks. I leave on the “Grant” carefully, before each turn I wait a long time for clearance, timidly and requestingly blink the turn signals. How fast everyone is going! And no one is in a hurry to let me in … And those gathered behind me are nervously honking. In the mirror I see a displeased off-road driver. With anger and contempt at the same time (the second refers, apparently, to my car), he says something in my direction.
I begin the movement: I’m eating, as expected, uncertainly, breaking out of the general stream. I need to turn left, but I'm still in the right lane - I'm sorry, I’m not yet used to calculating the route and rebuilding in time. In general, any rebuilding is a whole adventure. In the driving school they talked only about the need to turn on the turn signal. So, turned on - and nothing happens! No one misses! Only honking desperately … Turned the same. He spent a lot of nerve cells - both his own and those of others -.
I leave the track, occupy the left lane. On the right a heavy traffic, everyone is driving slowly. Kettles, in a word! I'm driving confidently on the left. Speed - in the framework of traffic rules, not more than 90 km / h. Beauty! And then some huge jeep approaches from behind, frantically blinking headlights. What to do? This beast pressed so tightly against me that it became scary. And honking light, and buzzing! It was hardly rebuilt to the right. Perhaps enough experimentation. I’ll go as I can, taking into account almost 20 years of experience. Not standing out from the stream and not violating traffic rules.
KETTLE IN LAW
I’ll stay a short time as a student, but first I will mark myself with stickers on the car. I bought as many as three pieces (40 rubles each). So that everyone can immediately see who is driving. In addition to the "legitimate" yellow square, I affix the "folk" signs "U" and "Teapot". Let's hit the road!
I’m going along the same route, doing the same timid and insecure maneuvers, but even if I do it clumsily, deathly silence is around. What happened friends? I look guilty at the drivers and I see sympathy in their eyes. Or neglect. But it doesn’t hurt me. Need to rebuild? No problem: I turn on the turn signal and slowly, not paying attention to others, change lane. Nobody honks! They tolerate … Can’t you get off at the traffic light the first time? Full understanding: go round or wait patiently.
Miracles! A couple of times, as it seemed to me, the drivers nevertheless overwhelmed the "stupid" with unkind expressions, but oh well. Everyone’s nerves are not iron … I honestly have already begun to get angry with myself.
The left row on the track, the same speed - ninety. I see a rushing car in the mirror. It starts to signal with light - and suddenly, silently, without even humming a horn, it passes me on the right. Here it is, happiness! Yes, I’m a beginner - and even if they don’t respect me, they’re sorry and probably afraid. They give way to the road, try not to provoke sudden movements. What else do I need?
So away false bashfulness! In the end, everyone once started, everyone had their first independent “flight”. And to all newcomers, my advice is: do not be shy, hang on the car "yellow square". This is not a stigma of an outcast, but a symbol of your safety.
Artem LEBEDEV, psychologist:
By the type of response to beginners, all drivers are divided into two categories. Representatives of the first group (such as approximately 90%) react to “students” with contempt and neglect. About the same way high school students relate to first graders. Or remember bullying in the army … That is, an experienced driver in relation to a beginner demonstrates a sense of superiority. (As if he himself had not once been green! But such is the property of our memory.) At the same time, there is an underlying fear: what if the “young” one will throw out some unexpected fortel? Better stay away from him.
The second group, unfortunately, is small (approximately 10%). These are very tolerant people, they remember well how they once learned how to drive, how they made their first mistakes …
SIGNS

Training vehicle
The rules of the road (Art. 21.5) require the installation of such signs on a car that is used to teach driving. Novice drivers are no longer like students, but actively use the “U” sign to stand out in the stream. Experienced drivers such cars, of course, annoy, but usually they are limited to comments to themselves. The letter "U".

"Novice driver."
Traffic regulations establish the mandatory use of this sign for drivers with less than two years of experience. Punishment for absence is not provided. Most people perceive a car with this sign as a source of increased danger, so its driver gets some advantages on the road.
