Two years ago, Muscovite Muscovite G. G. bought a Mercedes-Benz CLK 200, according to an announcement on the automobile portal. The offer was interesting: the car is almost new, with low mileage, at an attractive price. The seller explained: urgently need money! Mikhail through friends he checked the car on the basis of the traffic police: everything is clean. I bought it.
But a year later the subpoena came. It turned out that the car was pledged to the bank and the bank was demanding it be returned. The previous owner is not going to pay back the loan received for the purchase of Mercedes. The lawsuit continued for a year, Mikhail lost and parted with the car. The fraudster, who took out a loan, put the car on record and placed an advertisement for the sale, conducted this transaction through an intermediary - both disappeared, there were no ends to be found.
If they ask for a price clearly lower than the market price for a new car, this may already be a warning that the car has a security history. Of course, there are exceptions, but very rarely. Now all the cars of the secondary market are tracked by dealers, and they will not miss an interesting product.
If, instead of the original title, the seller shows a duplicate issued, they say, in return for the lost, there is reason to beware. In most cases, under the terms of the loan agreement, the vehicle passport is stored in the bank until the loan is fully repaid. But a clever seller can apply to the traffic police about the loss of a document and get a duplicate. The fact that the car is pledged is known in the bank, in the insurance company and, of course, the owner himself knows, but the traffic police do not have such information.
By the way, if it is not the owner who is selling, but someone by proxy, there is a reason to contact the real owner, it is even better to meet in person. It is possible, he does not know that his car suddenly decided to sell.
In the contract, be sure to indicate the real value of the purchase. Remember: when it comes to legal disputes, it will be very difficult to prove that you bought the car for exactly a million, and not for 100 thousand rubles, specified in the contract.
