We are still growing fastest in Europe. It is a fact. True, we had the lowest base, that is, a reference point - so there is nothing to be surprised at.
The leaders are the usual “Lada”, occupying 37% of the park (13.7 million units). Please note: just a year ago, cars from Togliatti accounted for 37.6% (13.72 million units) in it. How to understand this - cars are produced in hundreds of thousands and sold, but their share is reduced? Where do all made frets disappear? The answer lies on the surface: the number of old VAZs sent for recycling is almost equal to the sales figures for new cars. All other Russian brands (including the lost Moskvich) accounted for barely 11%. It turns out that foreign cars already occupy more than half of the fleet - 52%. But about twenty years ago he was almost completely domestic. The trend cannot be reversed, and the share of our cars (only VAZs and UAZs of those currently produced) will continue to decrease.

The first among foreign cars and the second in absolute terms which year are Toyota (3.1 million units, + 0.4%) - is it necessary to say that most of them are still right-hand drive? But Nissan finally came in third place (1.5 million units, + 0.3%), pushing the Russian GAZ (1.4 million units, - 0.2%). Everything is clear: the production of self-developed cars in Nizhny Novgorod ceased in 2010. Surrounding the top five are surprisingly tenacious “Muscovites” (1.27 million units, 0.2%), whose population, although declining, still represents a considerable share of the auto population.
Last year, several foreign brands crossed the million mark: Chevrolet (1.2 million units, + 0.4%), Ford (1.08 million units, + 0.2%) and " Hyundai "(1.03 million units, + 0.4%). Volkswagen has come close to a symbolic milestone (966 thousand units, + 0.4%).

Did you notice that the share of foreign cars, despite record sales in recent years, is growing very slowly? Plus two-tenths, plus half a percent … Here is the same trend as with the “frets”: the number of retiring “right-handed Japanese women”, ancient “Cadets” and other “hundred and nineties” that were massively brought to Russia in the nineties is so great that beginners barely have time to replace them in the ranks.
In the ten most popular models, the first nine places are still occupied by a variety of “frets”, and the leader has not changed for 12 years now - this is the VAZ-2106, which was discontinued in 2006. That's riveted!.. Toyota Corolla, the first among foreign cars, takes only the tenth position, and it is clear that at least half of these cars are right-hand drive. But, judging by the calculations of analysts, the current picture will soon change dramatically: this year, Ford Focus will fall into the top ten, and some Russian models will go down. Their century is over …
