Dacia lodgy

Before meeting me, of course, I took a ride on the Lada-Largus, it’s the Dacia-Logan MCV, the ideological predecessor of the Lodges. In terms of practicality, a great car! Few people offer so much spaciousness and functionality in this class. I'm not talking about a full third row of seats. Strength - smooth running. Of course, there are also disadvantages: poor visibility back, due to two vertical leafs of the tailgate with only one wiper. And also controversial ergonomics and mediocre noise isolation. Let's see how far the Lodges, built on the platform of the updated Logan, have advanced. In Russia, it is not officially sold, and a car imported by a private person fell into our hands.

RICH, POOR
The happy owner drove the Lodges from Romania. He says he wanted to be like this as soon as he saw in our magazine photos from the premiere at last year's Geneva Motor Show. Indeed, at first glance, the "Lodges" makes a very pleasant impression: the design is devoid of the angularity inherent in the budget family "Renault", and the car looks clearly more modern. The most striking detail of the exterior - diamond-shaped taillights, “Logan” with “Largus” never dreamed of. Lodges are also longer and taller than Lada. But the wheelbase is less.
Compared to Logan, ergonomics are markedly improved. But the interior is still poorly decorated. But the multimedia system with a touch screen is a real chic for this price class

It is impossible not to note the progress in interior design - it is freshened. However, the longing did not disappear. Gray paints, frankly cheap finishing materials … I want to savor, but nothing. Brothers, this is really a new model, am I not confusing anything? Neither the optional multimedia system with a touch screen and a navigator, nor the center console with conveniently located weather control knobs, nor a tray for small things in the upper part of the front panel can hide the Puritan spirit.

In the little things, the interior has become nicer. Lightly press the direction indicator lever - in response to a three-time blink. Even the power window buttons are now located on the doors. Everything is like people have. Against this background, they were puzzled by the rejection of normal door handles (again in favor of flawed slots-recesses) and a driver's seat not adjustable in height. True, thanks to the new packing it is more convenient than Loganovsky - you do not feel like a chicken on a perch. Landing in the "Lodges" in the Jeep style is elevated, I look down on ordinary cars. Visibility through the cabin mirror is noticeably better than that of the Largus, because the rear window is usual here. In addition, the janitor cleans a large area. And everything would be fine, but the wide rear pillars significantly reduce the visibility range.
Additional glove compartments in the cabin are not enough. The box on the top of the center console for van is clearly not enough

PLANNING NOT IMPROVED
Not without loss. For some reason, the Lodges did not have a comfortable and roomy shelf under the ceiling, like in the Largus, although the ceiling height allows you to build at least a mansard floor. And in general, different drawers, niches and hooks are not enough. I expected that the second row can be moved back and forth on the sled and the backrest can be adjusted, like the vast majority of compact vans, but Dacia does not provide this possibility. If necessary, the back of the sofa (it is divided in the ratio of 35:65) is easy to fold, but does not come out of a flat area with the boot floor. Still running out of space? Tilt the seats all the way forward, and then the capacity will reach 2617 liters cyclopical. Yes this is a full van!
The backrests can be folded separately. It’s only a pity that it doesn’t work out a level ground with a floor

We have a five-seat modification at our disposal, but the van is also available with a seven-seater interior configuration. Moreover, in the last, third row it is not at all crowded that for machines 4.5 m long, an exception rather than a rule is more likely. Passengers in the second row are more comfortable to sit in than in the Largus - the doorways are wider and higher. You go into the cabin, but do not make your way. In “Largus” it’s also a sin to complain about crowding, but in “Lodges” there is a real expanse! The increase in height was especially noticeable, and the floor tunnel is modest. There even a cup holder appeared. Sorry, it is located uncomfortable.
The margin of space in the second row is sufficient. Alas, there are no folding tables, shelves on the ceiling - also, there is one cup holder

WITH ALL CONVINIENCES
The engine range of the Lodges is the same as the Logan. Under the hood of our car, a time-tested 1.6-liter eight-valve. Its merits are well known. The main thing is a decent pulling power at low speeds. I start from a place almost without gassing, and the motor pulls. On the other hand, the engine frankly does not like high revs - it quickly turns sour. In general, a good option for those who are in no hurry.
A hanger attached to the front seat is a good thing. However, folding tables would also be useful

During a short trip I found out: in comparison with Largus, noise insulation is better here - the sound of the engine is less intrusive. And the suspension is just as beautiful! On the icy hollows of a winter road, the car goes completely unperturbed. The energy intensity of the chassis and the ride are ideal for Russian conditions. Along with a spacious interior, this is the model’s strongest trump card.
The back does not fold perfectly smoothly, but in the folded position, the sofa takes up a minimum of space

In general, it is a pity that this "house" (English lodge - house) in our country is not officially sold. In Europe, for the "loggia" they ask for 2, 000 euros more than for the "Logan MCV" (in Germany the price starts from 9, 990 euros). We, I think, would also find many who wish to purchase such a car. After all, you can’t buy another new compact van for the money!
