The affordable Logan sedan, which became the pioneer of the modern European budget segment in 2004, has been updated to the second generation. However, the novelty will not appear on our market yet. In 2013, we should wait, most likely, only the official Russian premiere of modern Logan. In the best case, dealers will begin to take orders for this model by the end of the year, and the cars themselves will reach customers in 2014 (although an optimistic scenario cannot be ruled out). Such a delay in the start of Russian sales after the world debut is associated with the transfer of Renault Logan production from the Avtoframos plant in Togliatti to AvtoVAZ, where it has yet to be equipped with an assembly line for it. The new Logan itself was noticeably ennobled externally - it left the deliberately rustic chopped design. The salon, at first glance, also changed a lot, but upon careful examination, the elements and solutions that migrated from its predecessor are noticeable: round deflectors, front power window keys located on the center console, and rear ones on the tunnel between the front seats. But the dashboard and multimedia system with a color screen (for top-end configurations) migrated to Logan from the compact platform Dacia Lodgy. By the way, the budgetary is based on the same B0 platform as the first generation Renault Logan. For the European market, the manufacturer installs modern power units on Logan - a 90-horsepower Tce 90 turbo engine with a capacity of 0.9 liters and a 1.2-liter aspirated engine with a capacity of 75 hp, as well as two versions of a 1.5 dCi diesel engine with a capacity of 75 and 90 liters. pp., however, we will most likely have the time-tested 1.6-liter engines in 8- and 16-valve versions, installed on the first generation. The main intrigue: will Renault be able to offer attractive prices for its budget sedan and, accordingly, how successfully will the new Logan compete with the low-cost competitors that have appeared in recent years and those that are about to enter the market?

Another pair of "folk" cars of French origin - Peugeot 301 and Citroen C-Elysee - are direct competitors to Renault Logan. True, unlike the latter, they do not plan to collect them in Russia. The production of twin sedans established in the Spanish city of Vigo. Naturally, this complicates the PSA concern's ability to compete in price with other state employees (most of which are already produced in Russia), since the cost of the Peugeot 301 and Citroen C-Elysee have to include shipping and customs costs. The French decided to save, apparently, on the unification of both models. After all, the “three hundred and first,” and the Citroen C-Elysee are actually the same car, and the differences between them lie only in the exterior body panels (except for the roof), as well as a slightly different form of dashboard. Judging by the first impressions, the Peugeot 301 and Citroen C-Elysee, as well as Logan, are distinguished by long-stroke energy-intensive suspensions, which should fit well into our road conditions. For the couple, there are two gasoline engines - a 72-horsepower 1.2 VTI and a 115-horsepower 1.6 VTI, as well as a turbo diesel 1.6 HDI with a capacity of 92 hp. The most powerful option will be available with a 4-speed "automatic". As for prices and configurations, they will be announced closer to the start of Russian sales, the launch of which is scheduled for the second quarter of 2014.

The budget sector next year will replenish not only with compact models, but also with larger cars. One of them is the Citroen C4 L sedan, which will “play” at the border of the “C” and “D” classes. He also has a relative - the Peugeot 408 already produced in Kaluga. The prices for both cars are unlikely to differ too much, so now we can say that the cost of the Citroen C4 L starts at around 550, 000 rubles. for the younger version with a 110-horsepower 1.6-liter aspirated. In addition to it, there will also be available a 120-horsepower naturally aspirated engine and a 150-horsepower turbo engine - both 1.6-liter, as well as a 1.6-liter diesel engine with 112 hp.
The domestic version of the "people's" car - Lada Granta has already managed to become familiar on the roads. True, while it is available only with a sedan. But AvtoVAZ is working on preparations for the release of Granta in the version of the five-door hatchback. Moreover, unlike the Kalina, which is positioned half a step higher and better equipped with a hatchback, the five-door Granta will be larger - due to a longer rear overhang. According to the plan of Togliatti hatchback should get on the conveyor closer to the end of 2013, but it will go on sale only in 2014. Recently, factory workers have managed to more or less comply with the scheduled release dates for new products, so, hopefully, the Granta hatchback will also appear on time. Well, next year the official premiere of the model should take place and technical details, equipment and prices will become known.
In the Japanese market, the new Nissan Note is on sale starting in the fall, and in Europe and Russia it should appear next year. The second generation of the popular single-volume differs from the rustic utilitarian predecessor in a more expressive embossed design. However, in the design details, the European version of Note, most likely, will differ from the home Japanese. It is also not clear yet which choice of power units will be offered on our market. In Japan, the Note is equipped with a 3-cylinder 1.2-liter engine in two versions - 80 and 98 hp. Both are paired with the X-Tronic CVT. The equipment list contains the Around View Monitor.
Sedanchik Chevrolet Cobalt should replenish the list of low-cost models available on the Russian market in January 2013. Its production was established at the General Motors factory in Uzbekistan. The car was developed by the Brazilian division of the concern on the same platform as the well-known Chevrolet Aveo. True, Cobalt is slightly larger than Aveo, but it will cost exactly the same - from 444, 000 rubles.
