The cooperation concerned the ZMZ-51432.10 diesel engine, or even more specifically, its fuel system. The 514th motor itself has existed for a long time, of course, its revision design has not undergone, in contrast to the fuel supply system, which has already experienced one adaptation - to Euro 3. For Euro 4, its capabilities were already lacking. Faced with this problem, representatives of Sollers (the owner of the UAZ brand) turned to technical partners from Robert Bosch GmbH (Feuerbach, Germany), who for several months adapted the Common Rail fuel system to the Volga diesel engine and signed a contract for the supply of their components to the UAZ conveyor. That is, fuel pumps for UAZ Patriot and Pickup are produced by the same Bosch diesel equipment factory, which supplies parts to conveyors and the most famous foreign automakers. This means the same quality standards and the same accuracy in meeting contractual obligations. As for the number of fuel injection pumps that Bosch can send to UAZ, the Germans are ready for any volumes.

The collaboration between Sollers and Bosch concerned not only the adaptation of Kommonrail to the Volga diesel, but also the development of an on-board diagnostics system, which was undertaken by the Bosch engineering center located near Stuttgart, where the diesel equipment plant is located, in the city of Abstat. They, employees of the engineering center, were engaged in testing and certification of ZMZ-51432.10 with the Bosch and EOBD fuel system. This work took only eight months from German experts. Engineers of the Russian NITSIAMT FSUE “NAMI” (in other words, the well-known Dmitrov auto test site) actively participated in the certification. The work was simplified due to the lack of a language barrier: a lot of immigrants from Russia and the CIS countries work in the Bosch engineering division, including in senior positions. That's what the old school means!

It turned out ours, Russian: they specially brought a whole barrel of diesel fuel and drove the engines on it. More than 1500 hours at the stand, more than 300 thousand km in real conditions, tests were carried out at an altitude of up to 2500 m, above +40 and below -35 ° С … All conceivable nuances were taken into account. All accountable.
