Photographs of Grants Sport appeared on the Internet about a year ago - AvtoVAZ President Igor Komarov already tested it in Moscow. However, information about the characteristics of the machine and the timing of its appearance was hidden.

The caster (longitudinal tilt of the pivot axis) in the front suspension, the maximum possible within the framework of the standard design, provided a clear “zero”. At the rear wheels, the camber is increased to plus two degrees (one degree more than the Grants conveyor belt). Due to this, the track of the rear wheels slightly widened. The rear beam attachment points have shifted back. As a result, the Grants Sport wheelbase is slightly (14 mm) larger than the base of the regular version. Thanks to the shortened suspension springs, the car became 40 mm closer to the ground. The shock absorbers on the outside look like serial ones, but differ from them in their characteristics and the presence of gas pressure.
Changes to the chassis allowed the wide wheels to fit into the standard body arches. Therefore, the body remained the same, without swollen wings. Yes, and other differences are small: unusual bumpers, door sills and a deflector on the edge of the trunk.

Under the hood, the Priorovsky 16-valve engine with minor modifications. Camshafts with cams of a modified profile, reduced intake and exhaust resistances, refined brains made it possible to raise power to 120 hp, and torque to 140 N.m. At the same time, up to 3000 rpm, the characteristics of power and torque, according to the creators of the machine, remain the same, changes occur only at higher speeds.

In order for the car to ride better “from below”, the main gearbox pair with a standard range of gear ratios was shortened to 4.3. This allowed to reduce the acceleration time to hundreds to 9.5 s … and increase the maximum speed. Now it is equal to 197 km / h and is achieved in fifth gear with such a major pair, which has become almost direct, and not increasing. And the fourth from a straight line turned into an intermediate one.

FULL FORWARD
I liked the powerful brakes that effectively upset the car, the dense, but at the same time comfortable suspension (the pits, potholes, and even combs with which our roads abound, on the sports track, of course, was not). In running turns, the car practically does not heel, clings well even to wet asphalt.
The motor is more horseback than high-torque, which is not very convenient in everyday use. It seemed that from below it pulls even a little worse than the standard Priorovskiy. But the higher the speed, the more intense the acceleration. Pretty even in the entire rev range, without obvious failures and pickups. The machine continues to gain speed up to 6, 000 rpm.

In general, the impression of a tightly knocked down "cart" is not bad. In my opinion, Kontinental-KontiPromContact 2 or KontiPremiumKontakt 5 tires, Nokian-Hakka Green, or Pirelli-P1 Chinturato tires would add pungency to the car. But from the gates of the Lada MST company, this car will go out only on the Yokohama tires.
Fly in the ointment - a slurred gearshift mechanism, typical of front-wheel drive AvtoVAZ models. But that’s not all: the lever itself also moves back and forth when you press the gas pedal and release it. For a charged car, this is unacceptable.

We will put it on all commercial vehicles of the “Sport” version (from October 15 this year, all “viburnum” and “grants” are equipped with a cable transmission drive. - Approx. Author). Street racers blocked our road near Dimitrovgrad. The pouring rain made squat “Samaras”, “tens” and “priors” with growling motors cuddle against the curb. I had to wade through a system of cars. Lada-Granta Sport is a car that can be bought and serviced at the official dealers of AVTOVAZ already at the beginning of next year. In the near future we will be preparing a more powerful version - already 140 hp, without a turbine, with a subframe for the power unit. All new items that will appear on conveyor machines (next-generation anti-lock braking system, dynamic stabilization system, etc.) will definitely come to Grant Sport. And the next-generation Priora will certainly find the Sport version.

We have been participating in the Grant Sport project since the advent of the first cars. All racing cars in the Lada Grant Cup last year, too, were equipped with our C.drive tires. The civilian version of the "Grants Sport" will also be equipped with such tires, while Japanese or Filipino production. At the same time, we are working on the issue of supplying new C.drive 2 tires manufactured at our factory in Russia.
