With the drive of mounted units, the Grants are clearly over the top. We scolded "Kalina" with manual tension control and hoped for the introduction of an automatic tensioner. However, the plant went a different way: the generator was simply fixed on the block, depriving it of the possibility of displacement. Many manufacturers do this, saving on "extra" parts - but at the same time they use an elastic multi-ribbed belt. And at "Grants" it is so oak that it is ready to smash the bearings to pieces. Which, in fact, does. This decision is scolded not only by the owners, but also by the mechanics: when replacing the unit (or belt), at least two are needed - one turns the posted wheel with the gear engaged, and the other starts the belt on the pulley streams. The mandrels proposed by the plant do not contribute to the simplification of the process.
To our taste, we would modify the drive to the previous Kalinowski scheme, replacing the generator bracket and still installing the tensioner. But sellers of spare parts also do not sleep: having realized the possible demand, they inflated the prices for the corresponding parts four-five times. It is not a sin for the plant to declare a revocable campaign, admitting its mistake, but for now AvtoVAZ is silent.

However, with the drive of the Kalina generator, too, everything is not perfect. The native 6RK1018 belt does not live for a long time, but there are no worthy foreign analogues in nature. You can only find longer (1035 mm) or shorter (1000 mm). The latter can still be installed by shortening the threaded end of the rod of the tensioner by 10 mm (ЗР, 2012, No. 9).

This automatic gearbox is distinguished by the convenience of changing the oil and level control with the help of a good old dipstick, which will certainly be appreciated by owners who prefer to service the machine on their own. It's great that they provided for the much-needed daytime running lights with separate lamps that were not tied to the dipped beam.

Even more delighted was the replacement of lamps in the lanterns. We scolded Kalina for this operation: it is necessary to remove the lights in it, and their fastening with individual washers and nuts, which strive to slip into the wing cavity without a trace, did not withstand any criticism.
