But from another relative - the Skoda-Rapid liftback - the novelty differs only in nuances like a radiator grill, front and rear lighting and other rims. These machines will even be produced at the same factory. In short, twin brothers. Only now I managed to get acquainted with the “Czech” a couple of months earlier, and the Spaniards were in no hurry with the driving presentation.

I sit behind the wheel and understand: everything here, except for a different instrument design, is familiar from the Rapid. The same laconic design, a similar set of equipment, including a rare for this class multimedia system with a touch screen and navigator. The multifunctional steering wheel is adjustable in two planes and trimmed with perforated leather - I don’t want to let out such hands. Liked chairs: comfortable profile, impressive ranges of movements. Finding a comfortable fit is easy. True, no matter how you sit down, visibility is unimportant. Outside mirrors are small, and even in the narrow rear window there is little to see. In general, parking sensors for this car are not a whim, but the necessary equipment. True, it, as well as climate control, fog lights that can look into a turn, and the aforementioned navigator, will be installed only in richly equipped versions.

And the rear passengers in Toledo can live on a grand scale - hardly anyone offers such open space for knees in this segment (with the exception of the Rapid, of course). True, in the shoulders and in height the reserve is no longer champion (although we are not talking about crowding). The floor tunnel could be smaller, and the air ducts would not hurt. What can not be faulted is the trunk - it is outstanding here! And how else to call the volume of 550 liters (according to the manufacturer), and this is with a full-size spare tire under the floor! Here a couple of huge suitcases can get lost. If you fold the seats of the second row, then the capacity can be brought up to one and a half cubic meters. Not every golf wagon will provide such an impressive amount.

By the way, in the trunk of the Rapida there were comfortable nets that fixed the luggage. SEAT deprived of them. I did not find in it convenient pockets in the sides of the front seats, holders for smartphones in cup holders, an ice scraper that is secured under the gas tank flap. Hint that Toledo will be cheaper than Rapida?

The strengths of the car include a wide range of engines: two diesel engines (although they are unlikely to appear in Russia) and four gasoline engines. I bypassed the modest 75- and 85-strong modifications - their power will cause little enthusiasm. Here's a version with a 1.2-liter 105-horsepower turbo engine - another thing.
The engine filled the interior with a light but noticeable buzz: the sound insulation here is rather weak. I’ve noticed this in Rapida. On the other hand, direct competitors, which include Kia-Rio, Hyundai-Solaris and Volkswagen Polo Sedan, are no better with this. But, unlike them, SEAT has a 6-speed manual. The "Spaniard" is riding smartly - he is ready to accelerate at any second, and in the left lane of the highway he is not superfluous. The best part is that the average fuel consumption following the trip only slightly exceeded 6 l / 100 km. For a gasoline car - an excellent result.

The competitors mentioned above cannot oppose anything here.
Driving performance "Toledo" is clearly imprisoned under the autobahn. A stiffer suspension guarantees unshakable stability on a straight line and small rolls in corners. But if there are bumps, it shakes harder than we would like.

The novelty, in their opinion, will be able to chop off a considerable share of the market. It would not have regretted at Skoda about their decision to postpone the launch of Rapida in Russia for 2014.
