“Everything breathes here with Logan,” I involuntarily rephrased my contemporary, as soon as I saw Largus. Although there are still differences between the station wagons of foreign and domestic assembly. One of the interesting differences in the cabin is the original seats. By their uncomplicated forms, they resemble those that are installed in Logan, but they differ in both the manufacturer and the design. In the top configuration, which, by the way, was rolled out for the test, you can additionally adjust the lumbar support and the height of the pillow. This set is enough to take a comfortable position. At least to those whom the Creator did not endow with a non-standard figure. Over the course of a 400-kilometer run, my colleague and I never remembered the chairs. The best proof is that you have a good design.
As far as I remember, in the back seat in the Logan I was more spacious. No, in Largus it’s not crowded, but it’s not so easy at your feet. On the shoulders, and even more so over head there is plenty of room. What is the matter? The answer came from the front seat. A tall colleague noted a longer longitudinal adjustment. However, whoever doesn’t like the second row, let him go to the “gallery”. I do not remember cars where it would be so convenient and spacious. Of course, buses do not count.

The first acquaintance is a cursory one on the Avtovaz training ground. The sixteen-valve engine travels boredly, without a spark: no pickups, no failures. But how convenient it is with him! If you don’t drop the speed below 50 km / h, you don’t have to switch at all - it confidently accelerates a one and a half-ton car in fifth gear from engine speeds slightly above a thousand up to the declared maximum speed. By the way, we checked it on the GPS navigator. In the wind, “Largus” dispersed to 180, and squeezed only 161 km / h to the other side. Why is there such a big difference? Take a look at the serious dimensions of the station wagon - the frontal area of 2.38 m². And also the aerodynamic drag coefficient is hardly better than that of a brick (Cx = 0.42; comparable to the Lada indicator). Obviously, the oncoming air seriously slows down this low-flying “suitcase”.
When the speedometer needle goes far beyond a hundred, it becomes uncomfortable to control the Largus: the lateral wind knocks it off course, and the light and sensitive steering wheel makes it difficult to get back on track. After several laps you get used to it, but the pleasure of riding disappears.
I take off to cruising speeds and listen to extraneous noise. After three laps, I never heard “crickets” under the dashboard, the upholstery did not creak anywhere, the backs of the rear seats did not walk around in the locks. Unusual and atypical for cars crowned with a boat.

Small road flaws simply dissolve on the way from the wheels to the body, and large ones, which are scary to even look at, suspiciously swallow the suspensions, allowing them not to slow down. Comfortably, at the same time, the car reacts adequately and quite efficiently to the driver’s commands. You are waiting for a workaholic versatile person with a high center of gravity and energy-intensive suspension of the sports car reactions - stand in line for another car. Sensitive rolls and slight delays in driving are present, but in general the car behaves predictably, at least at the speeds permitted by our Rules of the road.
And not a little 105 “horses” for a car with a total mass of two tons? Those who wait for acceleration, like during an airplane run, go to the same place where lovers of refined controllability are standing: a budget car has never been endowed with excess power. I will tell the rest that with a half load (alas, it was not possible to fill all the places) the efforts of the sixteen-valve are quite enough for dynamic overtaking. The elastic engine pulls from any speed, and well-selected gear ratios in the transmission also facilitate the planned maneuver. True, in order to spur Largus, due to the closeness of gear ratios in the box, one often has to jump not one, but two steps down immediately. At first it’s unusual, but automatism comes quickly. And with it, the fuel gauge column on the dashboard quickly falls. Alas, short gears and mediocre aerodynamics do not contribute to moderate appetite. With a fairly economical ride on country roads, fuel consumption for different drivers ranged from 8.5 to 10 liters per 100 kilometers.
Largus is the first car in which you don’t remember that it was made by AvtoVAZ. He is the first one whose name is not shame but to write in Latin letters. And for which I am not sorry to lay out their hard-earned money. However, most Russians look at him in disbelief, because the most important question remains open - about reliability in operation. In recent years, many have burned themselves great by buying models of the Volga Automobile Plant, and having become disillusioned, they have gone to competitors. Maybe Largus will be able to return them?
