The message about the withdrawal of “lad” caused an ambiguous reaction. Some shook their heads meaningfully: they should have expected this, while others, on the contrary, regarded the news as a change for the better. After all, the Volga Automobile Plant is conducting such a global and noisy troubleshooting campaign for the first time.
Our opinion did not coincide with either one or the other. First of all, we will reassure the owners: it's okay, you don’t have to grab your head and rush to the dealer in haste. Even in the recommendations of the plant, sent to all technical centers for the completion of these models, the words "possibly" and "if necessary" appear repeatedly. As confirmation: on a machine that eliminated these flaws, nothing discouraging. Therefore, we are ready to assert with confidence: the action is more of an advertising nature. It is designed to draw attention to products rather than eliminate serious design flaws.
Dealers are already sending out written invitations to unscheduled free maintenance to all owners of cars that are on the list of recallable (by identification number - VIN). To conduct it or not is up to the car owner. If you haven’t decided yet, we suggest that you, along with the technicians of the Techinkom-Auto dealership, go through all the operations and look at specific examples of how appropriate it is. We will supplement factory instructions with our comments. Important note: the recall campaign was launched primarily for Grants, only the operation to protect the fuel pipes is carried out for both models.
IF WE HAVE REVIEWED CAMPAIGN
Back in the February issue (p. 112–114), when we were first able to consider the “Grant”, which is called, under a magnifying glass, we talked about much more significant shortcomings. For example, at the entrance to the engine compartment, a plastic casing hangs - protection of the pipes of the fuel line and adsorber. The lower radiator hose rubbing against adjacent parts is clearly lacking in fasteners. Mediocre clamps on the engine ventilation pipes do not provide tight connections: after a year of operation, the engine is coated with oil coating. And this is only part of the flaws. We will definitely tell you about the rest in the near future - wait for regular reports on the editorial Grant.
Returning to the recall campaign: it is a pity that the forces and means were used ineffectively. Perhaps eliminating the shortcomings indicated by us would have cost the manufacturer more, but in the future it will pay off faster. Indeed, it is AvtoVAZ that is not enough serious investment in reliability to build a solid car.

How to fix
Corrugated facings should be installed on the fuel and steam pipes (the factory part number is 2190–1104286).
Note
It is better to fix electrical corrugations with plastic coupling collars. However, the corrugations in contact with the cable will also quickly rub. To guarantee that this defect can be excluded, additional mounting brackets for the fuel line must be installed. This is more expensive, here is the manufacturer and limited to a budget option.

How to fix
Stick on tapes in the indicated places so that the tank does not rub on metal.
Note
The alteration is useful: after several years of operation on many cars, it is necessary to change the tank wiped from vibration. We have one more important point: you should glue the tide on the tank, which also serves to be attached to the body. For laying, any soft (preferably self-adhesive) material with a thickness of a couple of millimeters is suitable.

How to fix
Unscrew the tank cap slightly and turn the sensor so that it does not touch either the battery or the engine shield.
Note
Check the position of the harness after replacing the fluid. But you can not do this: the mentioned parts do not move relative to each other and are unlikely to ever rub.
Check the wiring harness 2190–3724026 for leaks (water must not get into the passenger compartment along the inside walls of the corrugation)

How to fix
We wrap with insulating tape the section of the harness from the branch to the crankshaft sensor to the entrance to the body, as well as the sections on the engine shield located near the entrance to the wires to the passenger compartment.
Note. Make it worth it. It happened that water penetrated in exactly this way and harmed the electrics.

How to fix
Pull the harness out of the body a bit, thus removing the tension on the wires.
Note
In theory, it is correct, but in practice … The force is not so great as to pull the wire out of the sensor. It is much more likely that the latter will fall victim to low-quality gasoline.

How to fix
Take a screwdriver thicker and gently pull the tubes.
Note
It is worth paying attention to the pipes, although again, just because of them, running to the dealer is not necessary: when you touch, the highway (we don’t even stutter about the site) will not lose a thousand kilometers.

How to fix
Pull out the 30 mm plugs (2108–5112090), apply “Auto-7-94” mastic to them and insert them in the same place.
Note
Instead of rare mastic, any sealant will do. Or leave the stubs alone. After all, even if moisture, dirt or reagents penetrate the interior through them, their number does not go to any comparison with what is splashed onto the carpet from the rugs.

How to fix
Eliminate wire contact with the sharp edge of the collector screen. Disconnect the harness and draw on the other side (on the right in the direction of travel) of the screen - now the wiring lies on the rounded edge.
Note
On the previous "viburnum" and "priors" the wire was laid in the same way, supposedly along a sharp edge. However, on all the machines known to us, including the editorial ones, he never frayed. If you still want to follow the recommendations of the plant, perform the operation on a cooled engine so as not to burn yourself.
