GLONASS SATELLITES FOLLOW US
They do not follow anyone, are not trained. As well as GPS. The satellite’s job is to give out accurate time signals, and that’s it. The navigator’s computer compares the arrival time of signals from several satellites and quickly solves the system of equations by determining its own location. And he can’t transmit the signal from the car to the satellite, he doesn’t have a transmitter at all. And if he could, then no satellite would digest the mess of billions of signals.

Another thing is that some navigators send the calculated coordinates via cellular communication systems to special services (for example, Yandex. Traffic) or to security services, and the latter can monitor your movements specifically.

WHAT TO MEASURE IN A / H
The vitality of an illiterate unit of measurement is amazing: for decades, it occupies a strange place on the labels of batteries, then on the packaging of chargers. Meanwhile, the correct designation of the electric charge accumulated in the battery gives, of course, the product of the current by the time - Ah, but not the result of division! It is in such units that it is customary to evaluate the capacity of batteries.
3

For example, the inscription “60 A · h” indicates that for 20 hours at a temperature of 25 ºС we can discharge our battery with a current of 3A (60 A · h: 20 h), while at the end of the discharge the voltage at the battery terminals is not should fall below 10.5 V. A little boring, but right.

PLASMA CANDLES BETTER
If desired, any modern spark plug can be called a plasma generator, if the spark discharge is attributed to cold plasma in its pure form. This is solely a matter of terminology. No changes in the shape of the electrodes, as well as various kinds of welded tips, do not transfer the spark plug to a qualitatively different state.

Therefore, it is simply impolite to notice plasma only in our own products and not see it among colleagues. Almost always, there is no real technical innovation behind such big names.

DOES 100% SYNTHETICS EXIST?
Yes, the words Full Synthetic Oil are often written on cans, reinforcing what is said with numbers on price tags. But is that true? Obviously, this is not about additives (their share in oil is not so great), but about the basis. With mineral water, everything is clear, it is made from oil. And the word "synthetics" itself implies synthesis, that is, the creation of the desired long molecules artificially, most often from gas. Artful modern alchemists are quite capable of taking the right amount of hydrogen, carbon, oxygen atoms and stitching them into the right synthetic chain with the desired properties. So even from organic waste, you can get oil, in which there will be no harmful sulfur, phosphorus, but only what is needed. One thing is bad: today such a fully synthetic oil is available only to the Formula 1 teams and cannot be found on store shelves.

So what, lies and deceit? It's not that bad. Just do not rest against the word "synthetics" (this is just a word!), But look at the oil quality class by API or ACEA. The farther from the beginning of the alphabet the second letter, for example L, M, (for API) or the number after A from one (for ACEA), the higher the quality of the oil, the more sophisticated technology was used in the manufacture of its base and the selection of additive package. Well, the fact that your “100% synthetics” was obtained from oil (though using a different technology) and only added (possibly) synthesized molecules there should not upset. If only the oil was good.

SYNTHETICS BETTER MINERALS
The error went from the time of ancient engines, the owners of which were afraid to fill in synthetics, because they say that it is so fluid that it flows through seals. However, if we take, for example, two 10W-40 oils, one of which is synthetic and the other mineral, then at operating temperatures they will have approximately the same viscosity; it is characterized by the designation figure after the letter W. Another thing is that the so-called viscosity index, which determines the intensity of the influence of temperature on the viscosity of oil, is much higher for synthetics. Therefore, if you want to buy, for example, low-temperature oil 0W-30, you will have to go broke on synthetics, because such a mineral water simply does not exist.

In addition to the topic, one can recall another horror story: synthetics corrode, for example, rag packing of the seals of old gas engines. However, viscosity has absolutely nothing to do with it.

RESEARCH OCTAN NUMBER IS DETERMINED IN THE CHEMICAL LABORATORY, AND MOTOR - ON THE ENGINE
Octane numbers, determined by research (OCH) and motor (OCHM) methods, are not at all “theoretical” and “practical” parameters. They are received on the same equipment in practically the same way! To do this, use a special single-cylinder installation with a variable compression ratio (UIT-65 or UIT-85). The difference is only in the operating modes of this installation. When determining the NRM, the crankshaft makes 600 rpm, and for the NRM - 900 rpm. In addition, when determining the HFM, the mixture is heated in front of the engine. It is conventionally believed that OCHI characterizes the properties of fuel in the urban cycle of a car’s operation, and OCHM - in the highway.

ABS REDUCES THE BRAKE WAY
If the anti-lock braking system (ABS) also reduces the braking distance, then only under certain conditions (for example, compared to tightly locked wheels). The principle of operation of this system is that the automation reduces the braking force (pressure in the brake system) if any wheel is suddenly blocked. This allows you to maintain control during emergency braking (after all, no matter where you turn the locked front wheels, the car will not change the direction of sliding!). In addition, braking without slipping at the point of contact (without locking the wheels) is more effective, since the static friction force is slightly greater than the sliding friction force.

However, on loose soil, such as deep snow, sand or gravel, braking by a locked wheel is more effective because it burrows into the surface and creates a shaft of soil in front of it. However, in the latest systems, this feature was taken into account: they learned to recognize the type of pavement on their own!
In any case, however, the main task of ABS is not to reduce the braking distance, but to control the trajectory even during emergency braking.

CALCIUM BATTERY IS BETTER THAN LEAD
The batteries are different: zinc, lead, nickel-cadmium, lithium-ion … That's just no one has ever heard of calcium. Nevertheless, the Ca icon (or even Ca-Ca) on car batteries is increasingly present. It is strange that they do not get any easier from this, but calcium is a metal much less heavy than lead.
In fact, we are talking about small (a few percent maximum) calcium additives in the alloy from which the battery plates are made. If it is added to both positive and negative electrodes, then Ca-Ca is obtained.
And why do you need calcium? It turns out that batteries with calcium additives in the electrodes, all other things being equal, are more difficult to boil. And this property is extremely important for maintenance-free batteries: you can’t get water in them. These batteries also have less self-discharge during storage, which is very convenient for sellers.

TIRES OF THE 15TH RADIUS
7

“Do you have tires of radius 15?” No, there are no such tires. This is nothing more than fundamentally wrong slang, originating from the designation of size - for example, 195 / 75R15. But the letter R is not related to the radius or diameter, but to the design of the tire! Now it stands on almost all tires, since there are almost no diagonal tires (with crossed cord). And “15” is the fit size of the rim in inches, not just the radius, but the diameter. Since the remaining sizes (in our case 195 and 75) are given in millimeters and percent, respectively, it will be correct to ask just a 15-inch tire - they will understand you.
