So, both “gossip” turned out to be true: in the first case we are talking about Nissan Almera in the third generation (by the way, the previous Almera in Japan was also sold as Bluebird Sylphy, but with a different radiator trim), and in the second - about the car that it sees light under the brand name Datsun. That is, the assumption put forward by us last time was confirmed! The only difference is that the Nissan golf class will be shown to the general public this fall at the Moscow Motor Show, and we will see the small and inexpensive Datsun only closer to the spring of 2014.
At first glance, the latter may seem strange: is it really so difficult to switch Granta? But the fact is that AvtoVAZ has difficulties with the production of engines - it’s not enough for its own cars, and then there are the Japanese. Therefore, most likely, the delay is associated with the construction of a plant for the production of power units of the Renault-Nissan alliance. The decision has already been made, and at no cost - it’s no secret that in a month this corporation will receive a controlling stake in the Togliatti auto giant. The history of the Datsun brand is usually counted from 1914, when Tokyo Automobile Plant Kwaishinsha launched its first car, the Dat Car. In 1926, as a result of the merger of Kwaishinsha and Jitsuyo Jidosha, Dat Jidosha Seizo appeared. Her first car, to emphasize continuity with the Dat lineup, was called the Dat Son (“son of date”). However, in Japanese, the word "Son" has a negative meaning, and later the name was transformed into Datsun. After a series of takeovers on June 1, 1934, Jidosha Seizo was renamed Nissan Motor. The new company used the Datsun brand it inherited and began to produce affordable cars under it, including for export to Asian countries and Australia. After the Second World War, Datsun continued to produce low-cost compact cars. But in 1980, Nissan stopped producing cars under the Datsun brand, and now it should be reborn 100 years after its birth.
