There are many arguments in favor of attributing the cars of this category to the golden mean, basically they are destined to live in the cramped conditions of a big city. Let's try to abandon the stylistic and driving nuances, all attention - to the little things and features of the complete sets
For the comparison to be correct, of all the possible modifications, we included in the review the most popular ones - with the 1.6 engine and manual transmission. Naturally, the motor palette of golf class sedans is wider, but more powerful and expensive cars are not suitable for the role of people's favorites.
With a limited budget, it makes sense to take a closer look at the Chevrolet Cruze in the initial version of Base. This is the cheapest car from our review, it will cost 572, 000 rubles. And mind you, not the slightest hint of asceticism. For this money, the buyer will receive a decent contrail kit (front and side air bags, ABS), an audio center with four speakers, front power windows, an on-board computer, an immobilizer. In a good way, there is not enough air conditioning. Optional air conditioning and heated front seats will make the Base version heavier by 31, 900 rubles. - it still turns out cheaper than competitors.
At the opposite price pole is the Mazda3 in the Touring Plus configuration for 745, 000 rubles. In terms of equipment, this "treshka" is quite expected to be placed on both blades of any of the rivals. On board are dual-zone climate control, full power accessories, a rear parking sensor, a reference set of active and passive safety features, including a dynamic stabilization system, music pours through six speakers.
The lowest price range for the Mitsubishi Lancer X with the 1.6 engine and two available equipment levels. Between "just" Invite and Invite + a step of 30, 000 rubles. Of the "bourgeois" stuff "plus" can be noted fog, multi-function steering wheel, alloy wheels.
Mazda3 demonstrates the greatest bodywork dexterity: its Direct version is the cheapest way to get a set of pillows and inflatable curtains (akin to the “Focus Focus” Russian doll “Trend level” achieves the same effect with the “Safety 1” package for 19, 500 rubles, which also adds ESP). Very convincing regarding the protective equipment of the Chevrolet Cruze LS level. But the Mitsubishi Lancer X 1.6 is an obvious outsider, in the "road wars" the driver and passengers can rely on front airbags and ABS.
Any of the survey participants, even in the lower configuration, offers a sufficient standard of living, except that it doesn’t hurt to pay extra for air conditioning when buying the base Chevrolet Cruze and Mazda3. If your comfort claims are higher than a set of standard amenities, try trying on the more generous Mazda3 and Ford Focus options - only these models can be equipped with climate control, light and rain sensors, and a number of other useful gizmos. It should be noted that Focus has the greatest “extensibility” potential. None of the competitors can boast an equally impressive range of options that can be purchased individually or as part of packages.
** “Package 3”: dual-zone climate control, alloy wheels, heated windshield, heated front seats; *** “Package 6”: heated front seats, heated windshield, rain sensor, inside rear-view mirror with auto dimming, fog lights ** “Package 3”: dual-zone climate control, alloy wheels, heated windshield, heated front seats; *** “Package 6”: heated front seats, heated windshield, rain sensor, inside rear-view mirror with auto-dimming, fog lights
It is very interesting to compare the "clothes" of rivals with close price tags. Sparring partner of the Chevrolet Cruze LS version is Mitsubishi Lancer X in the Invite configuration (645, 000 and 649, 000 rubles, respectively). Comparison is not in favor of the “samurai”. As already mentioned, the Lancer has a poorer contra-set (on the side airbags and cabin curtains), the foglights and the multifunction steering wheel that are present in the Cruze are lacking.

Next, Ford Focus of the level of equipment Trend and Mazda3 in the Direct configuration are called in the ring at a price of 621, 000 and 625, 000 rubles. This time the referee is in difficulty. Mazda3 wins in terms of protection, but inferior in terms of comfort - Ford's bonus account has air conditioning, electrically adjustable and heated exterior mirrors, as well as growth opportunities (a wider range of options).
It seems that the fate of the Chevrolet Cruze is the least worrisome for insurers - the CASCO policy (hijacking and damage) for its owner will be the least ruinous. Ford Focus insurance costs slightly higher. But judging by the higher tariffs, the Mitsubishi Lancer X and Mazda3 are at risk.
A comparison of credit programs led to a logical outcome: the cost of monthly payments is directly related to the tariff policy of banks and the period for which a loan is issued.
Oleg Getmanenko, editor:
- The choice of the most zealous, without doubt, Chevrolet Cruze Base version - the car captivates with an excellent price-equipment ratio and a good arsenal of protective equipment. Optimal, in my opinion, is the Ford Focus equipment in the configuration of Trend Sport and Mazda3 Touring level. Those wishing to equip their car to the maximum, including a full-time navigator, biksenon, a parking assistance system and other Sybarite things, are a direct road to dealers selling Ford Focus. From the point of view of the pragmatic buyer, the Mitsubishi Lancer is inferior to the rivals in this review, offering less options for the same money.
