Honda CR-V

The Honda Twin Ring Motegi test site is not the best place for a regular test drive: you don't have bumps or rough asphalt, and you have to keep the speed ridiculous. Nevertheless, a few laps on the fourth-generation CR-V made it possible to make a first impression. I will bring him to two words: spacious, quiet!
The new CR-V, contrary to the general trend, is more compact than its predecessor - its length is 4529 mm (- 41 mm), the height is 1654 mm (- 21 mm), and the width and wheelbase remain the same (1820 and 2620 mm). But the length of the cabin at the same time increased by 225 mm, so there is plenty of space on the back sofa. Getting out is also more convenient thanks to the rear doors swinging open at 80º (previously 67º). The driver's seat presses the sides more tightly, although the back has become wider.
"Honda" has always been famous for the ease of transformation of the cabin. And now - he pulled the handle and received 955 liters of volume. In the five-seater version, the CR-V holds 524-623 liters

The car is driven by the K24Z7 series engine - in fact, an upgraded version of what is installed on the third CR-V. The working volume has not changed (2354 cm³), but the intake manifold was subjected to refinement, and an electronic throttle valve was used. The power of the Japanese version is 125 kW / 170 hp, the torque is 220 N.m. The emphasis was not on the growth of forces, but on the reduction of consumption by optimizing combustion and reducing friction losses. The same goal was pursued by modernizing the 5-speed automatic: gear ratios were corrected and equipped with Grade Logic Control, which correctly guesses the moment of switching. As a result, the claimed average consumption - 11.6 liters. But this is not the limit. On the right side of the steering wheel there was an “environmental” button, which, like the new Civic, presses the throttle and air conditioning system to redesign to save extra grams of gasoline.
As for all-wheel drive, in a multi-plate clutch of the rear wheels from now on there is one pump instead of two, and its control is electronic, not mechanical. In theory, this should accelerate the connection of the rear wheels when the front end is slipping. Alas, I could not verify this. But the CR-V on all-season tires is significantly quieter and softer, all colleagues noted. The CR-V has a McPherson front and a compact multi-link suspension takes the place of the rear double-lever. The front subframe is reinforced, the tilt of the racks is changed to reduce rolls.
