The five-door version of the A1 largely repeats the three-door style, which has been conquering world markets for a year, including the Russian one. Nevertheless, it is difficult to confuse them, if only because of the color scheme. If the three-door A1 flaunts longitudinal racks painted in a different color than that of the body, then the Sportback paints the entire roof like that. Three options: black, gray, silver. In total, twelve colors are provided for the body, including the new Samoa Orange (pictured).

The production car is similar to the concept presented in 2008 in Paris, but many interesting solutions, alas, did not survive to the assembly line - in particular, a double rear window. The buyer will have the opportunity to choose from three finishes, including the sports-oriented S line.

1. The Sportback practically repeats the dimensions of the three-door A1 (length 3954 mm, base 2469 mm). However, the novelty is 6 mm wider and higher. Above the rear passenger’s head was added 11 mm, and 10 mm in the shoulders. Therefore, even with a height of 180 cm, the author calmly sat down "by himself." Unlike the three-door car, which is clearly positioned as a four-seater, Sportback is optionally equipped with a three-seater rear sofa. Moreover, this option is free! Here, perhaps, is one of the trump cards of the youngest Audi. Indeed, to go five in the cabin of any of the main competitors of “A1 Sportback” - “Mini-Cooper” and “Alpha Romeo-MiTo” - is a dubious pleasure.

2. The base for the "Sportback" include 5 - and 6-speed manual gearboxes. For dessert, a 7-speed S tronic robot with two clutches and the ability to manually switch using the keys on the steering wheel is prepared. The car is equipped with a recoil system that facilitates starting uphill. Unfortunately, the Drive Select smart chassis, which is equipped with the conceptual A1, did not reach the production car. However, there are three types of chassis to choose from: from a comfortable Attraction to a moderately sporty Ambition and a sharp S line. Depending on the version, tires and wheels will be offered: from the base 15-inch to 18-inch from Quattro GmbH. Alas, the four-wheel drive version is not provided. But the stabilization system is able to simulate a differential lock.

3. The trunk with a five-seater configuration holds 270 l of luggage. If you fold the seats, get 920 liters of usable volume. In order to recline the backs, you do not have to remove the head restraints: they are made in the shape of the letter L and are easily recessed. Under the boot floor I found … a battery and repair kit with sealant for tubeless rubber. It’s still possible to place a dokat here, I hope it will be in the Russian Sportback configuration.

4. The 1.2 L petrol TFSI delivers 86 hp. Three 1.4-liter TFSI engines deliver 122, 140 and 185 hp. With the latter, A1 reaches a top speed of 227 km / h and takes the first hundred in 7.0 s. The diesel range consists of two 1.6-liter engines (90 and 105 hp), as well as a 2-liter 140-horsepower unit. It consumes only 4.1 liters, accelerating the car to the first hundred in 8.5 s. By summer, the company will offer the latest development: a 1.4-liter TFSI with two cylinders shut off by shutting off the fuel supply and closing the valves. If the engine requires full return, the cylinders are again included in the work. The technology allows achieving an average gas consumption of 4.7 l / 100 km without sacrificing driving performance: such a Sportback develops 212 km / h and puts the speedometer needle at around 100 in 8.1 s.

5. The impression of the A1 cabin is unambiguous: it is a premium, only in a compact format. To the one who traveled on the A8, the baby will seem a lot familiar, in particular the Audi Connect device. At the disposal of the driver is the MMI complex with navigation, decorated with photos from Google Earth and Street View, working in conjunction with the phone via Bluetooth; Internet access is provided. Information is read from DVD or stored on the built-in hard drive. Data is displayed on a 6.5-inch high-resolution 3D monitor that automatically hides in the front panel when you leave the car. “Music” is also worthy of mention: in the top version it is a 465-watt Bose system with 14 speakers, with the front ones illuminated by LEDs.
