The race of stars took place on only six tracks. Over the years, it was hosted by the Central Moscow Hippodrome, the ice of the lake in Gus-Khrustalny, the Izmailovo sports complex in the capital, the Ramensky Republican Hippodrome, the Izhevsk Hippodrome, and the Tushino-Ring Moscow Circuit.
Victories in the Race of Stars were won by Moskvich-412, Moskvich-412-Izh, VAZ-21011, VAZ-2102, VAZ-2108, Volkswagen Zhuk, VAZ-21083, Opel Corsa. Most victories in the account of the eighth AvtoVAZ family are six, from 1988 to 1993.

Since 2006, the winner of the Race of Stars is determined in the finals, where the six best pilots start on the same machines. The equipment for the finals was Lada Kalina, Citroen-C2, Renault-Logan, prepared by the sports departments of the plants. In the qualifying part of the Race of Stars, future winners performed on Honda Civic, Volkswagen Polo, Citroen-Saxo and Lada Kalina cars.
At the start of the races of the Race of the Stars went Sebastien Loeb, Nelson Piquet, David Cultard, Romain Grosjean and Vitaly Petrov. Once the winner of the Star Race was a foreigner - Finn Miko Hietinen (1988). As guests of honor, the Star Race was attended by the Presidents of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), Jean-Marie Balester and Max Mosley.

Twice the Star Race was won by Nikolai Bolshikh, Boris Maslov, Sergey Uspensky, Timur Sadredinov and Kirill Ladygin. The editors of the magazine “Behind the Wheel” announced: the one who wins three times will receive the main prize of the Race of Stars - the Crystal Tire, made in 1984 by the masters of Gus-Khrustalny, for eternal use.
Special tires with spikes were first used at the Star Race in 1982. Then the options “race on spikes” and “race without spikes” alternated for a long time. In recent years, both options have been used in the qualifying stage: one race on spikes, the other without spikes. The equipment for the finals is invariably shod in sports tires with spikes.

Twice the race was threatened due to a strong thaw (1990 - Ramenskoye, 2008 - Moscow). Snow was specially brought to the Moscow hippodrome from cooler areas, but pilots chased through puddles anyway. It is also memorable in 1988: the section of the ice route in Izmailovo, under which the heating system passed, was periodically frozen with liquid nitrogen.
The fastest race of the Star Race for all years remains the 1800-meter oval track at the Central Moscow Hippodrome. At the official qualification in 2010, the crew of S. Ryabov / V. Maleev on the Lada-Kalina drove here the best lap for 55.617 with an average speed of 116.5 km / h. Speed in direct sections reached 165 km / h.
No matter how you forbid contact wrestling on the track, but the price of the Crystal tire is so high … At stake is prestige
