The organizer - the Moscow Department of Nature Management and Environmental Protection - conceived such a run to draw attention to environmental issues and environmentally friendly modes of transport, and was the initiator of the world's first rally with hybrids. This is all, of course, important, but not at all what made the rally truly unique. Rally winners were determined in two classes: Retro and Hybrid, and in two categories. In addition to the traditional time tracking, eco-rally also took into account the amount of fuel spent, that is, the victory in the race depended not only on the rally experience of the participants, but also on their ability to use gasoline most economically.

Toyota and Cadillac nameplates, illuminated with "environmentally friendly" blue and green colors, as is now customary among world car manufacturers, have turquoise dashboard lights, multimedia systems showing the process of electric motor operation and battery charging.

On the first day, the participants passed from Moscow to Novomoskovsk through Kolomna, on the second day - drove to Lipetsk, on the last, third day of the rally, overcame the route Lipetsk - Zadonsk - Voronezh. In each city there is a stop for mini-exhibitions of cars in the open air. In Kolomna, cars lined up right on the central square near the Kremlin, in Lipetsk - in the very center of the city, in front of the administration building. Only a small stop was planned in the center of Zadonsk, but the children, who were stuck around cars, did not let go for forty minutes each. An unusual run solemnly finished in the central square of Voronezh on City Day.

Although retro cars and hybrids performed in two different standings, the absolute final classification was summed up. In terms of speed, all the prizes went to members of the Rally Club of classic cars. This is not surprising, given that the crews of the hybrids consisted mainly of people who participated in the rally for the first time, among them Deputy Head of the Department of Environmental Management of Moscow Sergey Melnikov, representatives of Toyota, who were especially interested in the results, as many as three participated from them “Prius,”and reporters. The correspondent of "Behind the Wheel. RF" acted as a navigator on the all-terrain vehicle Cadillac Escalade.

Toyota Prius spent the least fuel - 54.2 liters of gasoline per 918 km of run (average consumption of 5.9 l / 100 km). The result is good, especially when you consider that the pilot admitted that he did not save and often rode in the "pedal to the floor" mode. The second was the Lexus CT200h hybrid - a total consumption of 60 liters. Having pretty much gone astray, this car has become a leader in terms of efficiency: having traveled 1030 km, its average consumption is 5.83 liters per 100 km. The winner’s Cadillac in the speed test took five times more gasoline to cover the distance: it consumed 276.9 liters per 1038 km, which averages 26.6 liters per 100 km. Compared to Biarritz, the 2010 Cadillac Escalade hybrid was twice as economical with an equal 5.7-liter engine volume. Hybrid Escalade spent a total of 92.7 liters at a flow rate of 12.4 liters per 100 km. That's what modern technology is capable of!
