Subaru forester

Subaru Forester Subaru Forester
At first I was skeptical. Subaru claims that the 2.5-liter boxer engine is now completely new, but it was hard to believe in it: the power and torque remained the same. But as soon as I got acquainted with the documentation, doubts disappeared.
Under the hood, a whole thicket of events. The motor became a long-stroke one (the piston stroke was increased, and the cylinder diameter was reduced), the combustion chamber decreased, which, according to company representatives, improved mixture formation. And it was also possible to reduce the costs of maintenance and operation of the boxer engine. For example, an oil filter is now located next to the filler neck. Change it - just spit. Instead of a timing belt, a durable chain drive has appeared in the gas distribution system. Finally, according to the developers, the new motor is more economical. However, on the route Minsk - Belovezhskaya Pushcha (the lion's part of the road is a flat straight line), the car ate 9.8 l / 100 km. Agree, not so little.

But the engine really has become more elastic, with it the car is more willing, overtaking it goes to overtake. The reaction to light pressing of the accelerator has intensified - the car immediately confidently accelerates. But nevertheless, I will not name the standard Forester quite dynamic. Want a real drive? Then it is better to look at the new version of S-Edition. Its supercharged 2.5-liter engine develops an impressive 263 hp. The beast! Rushing so that little seems. A dynamic photographer asked me to maintain 50 km / h - it was a real torment! I wanted to drive, drive, drive! Only a reminder of the severity of the Belarusian traffic cops made me moderate my ardor.
Under the exuberant temperament of a supercharged engine, the already good chassis was slightly adapted, costing only the installation of stiffer shock absorbers. And instead of a 4-speed “automatic” on the charged version, a 5-band from WRX STI is used, designed for more torque. There is also a manual switching mode in it. Paddle shifters are not the only things that differentiate the interiors of the S-Edition and the base version. There are armchairs trimmed with chic blue Alcantara, and metal pedals, and aluminum trim.

But in general, Forester can no longer be called ultra-modern. For example, I really didn’t have enough of the blinker mode three times in response to a light touch of the lever. They also saved on the backlight in the mirrors on the visors. And the sports version was also annoying with noise: the rumble from the wheel arches is such that I wanted to wear headphones. But, according to company representatives, buyers of the S-Edition version should not bother them - they are supposedly ready to Forester to forgive everything for its luxurious dynamics and handling. But I, having paid 1, 676, 500 rubles for this car, would not want to sacrifice anything …
