Audi Q3 Audi Q3
First question: who does it look like? Naturally, for parents - on the Audi model of the Q family! But the attentive eye will find similarities with the Volkswagen Tiguan. No wonder: “ku-third” inherited a platform and motors from it. But to consider them siblings is wrong. Sitting behind the wheel of a “newborn”, appreciating the interior by sight and touch, I realize that everything here is expensive and thoroughbred. It’s very comfortable to sit: a chair with developed lateral support tenaciously, but gently covers the body, hands themselves find the right grip on a convenient and beautiful steering wheel, hands on strict white instrument scales move with measured accuracy of an expensive Swiss watch.
Adjusting the climate, choosing your favorite radio station is also not a problem: all buttons are located logically. The only thing that confused me was the temperature control: the usual twist does not rotate, as usual, but for some reason sways from side to side.
Still doubt the aristocracy of the “baby” Q3? Then start the engine! A soft LED illumination will light up on the doors and in the cup holders, and a 7-inch MMI Navigation Plus system monitor will extend on the panel - just like in adults A6 and A8. How to use it is up to you. You can, for example, display a navigator map, where instead of the usual hand-drawn diagram, there will be a satellite image (when connected to the Internet, the picture is pumped from the Google Earth server). Or play around with the fine-tuned Bose audio system with 14 speakers. Or maybe conjure up suspension modes?
In the Q3, you feel no worse than in its more expensive models: riders are surrounded by an atmosphere of strict style and high technology

Are you ready to fall in love with the "baby"? Try then to sit back - you will definitely be disappointed: there is no mention of comfort and spaciousness of the front seats. True, there is enough space above your head, and the width of the cabin is enough for two or even three riders. But if the driver is seated in front, above average height, the passenger behind him will firmly rest his knees in the back of the seat.
In the European market, Audi Q3 plans to offer four two-liter engines (gasoline TFSI - 170 and 211 hp, diesel TDI - 140 and 177 hp), front-wheel or all-wheel drive quattro. We will have almost the same choice. Only a more powerful diesel version will be called to the Russian table a little later. But in any case, the drive will be offered only complete. Six-speed mechanics will be available only in the cheapest gasoline version, the rest of the equipment will receive a seven-speed robot.
The 211-horsepower TFSI turbo engine seemed noisy, but it gives a small and relatively light car, though not fantastic, but quite worthy of dynamics. True, at first the “baby” was still embarrassed by some slow acceleration. It turned out that the gearbox with two clutches was to blame for this: the engineers focused on a leisurely, quiet ride without unnecessary jerks and loads. But we didn’t forget about the temperamental drivers: it’s worth putting the selector in the “sport” mode, as the transmission starts to work at the required speed.

But the Q-junior is not interesting as a single motor. It is interesting, for example, to try out the different modes of the Audi Drive Select system. To do this, it is not necessary to climb into the menu - you can switch them with a special button on the console. Depending on the selected mode (Auto, Comfort, Dynamic or Efficiency), the characteristics of the gas pedal and steering should change. But in practice, it is extremely difficult to notice the difference, it is easier to trust in automation. There is only one exception - the Efficiency mode. Everything in it is set to save: the climate and cruise control are changing, the start-stop system is turned on. And when coasting, with the released gas, the gearbox completely opens the clutch, minimizing rolling resistance.
Well, what else, besides sports and economy, is the Ku-third capable of? It is a small, but still a crossover! Let's not be naive - despite the four-wheel drive, a little Q should not get out of the sandbox of good roads. Even a rather harmless obstacle can unbalance him. Well, if you persevere and ask him a more serious task, then very soon Audi will express its protest with a burnt clutch.

SAVE - HELP
Q3 is filled with driver assistance systems no worse than the "older" models. There is, for example, Audi Side Assist, which with the help of radar sensors monitors the “blind spots”. If the car starts to shift from the strip, Audi Active Lane Assist will help: it not only warns the driver, but also slightly corrects the course. And a special camera under the edge of the windshield monitors road signs and duplicates them on the dashboard.
Special attention is paid to the automatic parking system with 12 ultrasonic sensors - it is already installed on the A6 and A7. It works both in parallel parking (you won’t surprise anyone with this) and in perpendicular parking. If you fail to take a place in one run, the automation will complete the race in several stages. The sensitivity of the sensors allows you to recognize obstacles, even if they are on the sides of the car. But talents do not end there either: when parking, the system remembers the location of small obstacles and reminds them of the driver when leaving.
