The official classification does not differ in originality - the devices are divided into active and passive. The former help the driver to avoid critical situations. This gentlemanly kit includes anti-lock braking system (ABS), brake force distribution (EBD), emergency braking assistance (Brake Assist) and stabilization of movement (ESP). There are other, less popular assistants, such as a night vision system or a device that signals leaving the occupied band, the possibilities of current electronics are endless.

The latter care exclusively about salvation, trying to minimize the consequences of an accident. These are seat belts, pillows and head restraints.

A whole series of options did not fall into any of the groups (most likely, because they do not fit the definition of "system"), however, they are actively promoted by advertising. Something like “full disc brakes” or unpainted bumpers.

The consumer has a different attitude to saving options - from “let it be” to “interfere with travel” and “I keep, but I do not use it”. The same trends can be seen among manufacturers. Absolutely naked models are found in the production program of AvtoVAZ (Lada-2107 - from 199, 900 rubles) and factories of some of its closest neighbors (Daewoo-Nexia - from 242, 000, ZAZ-Chance - from 240, 000). Other brands are a bit more generous - at least one airbag is included in the basic equipment (Renault-Logan - from 327, 000, Lada-Kalina - from 341, 900). Abundance begins, we should get away from the word "budget" ("Ford Focus" - from 509 000, "Volkswagen Polo Sedan" - from 412 800) and extends to infinity - for example, "Lexus-RX" costs from 1 850 000 rubles.

The history of these devices began by and large with an anti-lock brake system. It has at least two indisputable advantages: keeping the tread on the verge of blocking provides the minimum braking distance under the given conditions, while preserving the ability to control the car - the wheel rotates! Other options from the "brake" series involve nodes of the same ABS and additional programs in the control unit.

EBD, in particular, guarantees the necessary sequence of wheel braking on a partially loaded car: the front ones before the rear ones. The same applies to the stabilization system (ESP) - here, the electronic mind simply brakes the slipping wheel. Unfortunately, the options do not always offer a single package, some applications have to be purchased. It’s worth doing it without regret - such a supply does not pull the pocket, and if necessary, the same stabilization system can usually be turned off, at least partially.

You can protect yourself in the event of an accident in different ways. Athletes, for example, prefer a helmet, a special racing seat and a multi-point seat belt. Durable, reliable … but uncomfortable. In civil engineering, the same problems are solved in other ways.

Instead of an integral bucket seat, the usual one (with a separate cushion and backrest) equipped with an adjustable headrest is used. This chair is easy to adjust to any figure. At the back, the living conditions are usually more modest, but the often lack of saving support for the head does not have a reasonable explanation - the neck of the inhabitant there is no stronger than others.

Inertial seat belts almost do not constrain movements, infringing on the rights of freedom-loving citizens to a much lesser extent. Retribution for pleasure is a rather low holding capacity. Pretensioners solve the problem: at the moment of impact, the belt tape is automatically pulled tight, reliably pressing a person to the seat. Unfortunately, the device is not found on all models - ask the seller.

But the most, perhaps, the main thing is an airbag, capable of replacing a chair, a helmet, and even a safety cage to a certain extent. Front pillows protect the head (and at the same time the chest) in front, side and ceiling (curtains) - on the side. Such saviors are expensive, but they do not last forever, on average about ten years. However, there is no reason to grieve over the "wasted" money spent - this is a payment for the notorious straw, laid in the right place.
