Federal Law No. 69, which regulates the activities of companies and entrepreneurs engaged in taxi transportation, will enter into force on September 1. It was adopted in a hurry, so that in fact they began to think through it only now. Especially for this, in Moscow, under the auspices of the Popular Front, the first All-Russian Taxi Driver Congress was held, at which Nikolai Lyamov, Deputy Mayor for Transport, spoke. And no matter how he assured the audience that “the lion's share of taxi companies in Moscow enthusiastically adopted the law,” taxi drivers unanimously say: the whole law is one big flaw.

The first stumbling block is the new requirements for the appearance and technical equipment of machines. From September each taxi car will have to be equipped with a taximeter, a lantern will appear on its roof, and so-called checkers on its sides. In addition, a certain color will soon be set for all city taxis. Lyamov assures that all this will cost a mere penny, however, taxi drivers said that only a taximeter would cost at least 15 thousand rubles.

But a more fundamental question is, how much the innovations will cost, and why they are needed! “The law was developed to improve transportation safety, but how do the color of the car and taximeter affect safety?” - Saturn CEO Evgeny Lvov is indignant.
Companies involved in the export, due to innovations will be significantly smaller. For many, the state consists of drivers with private cars, but few will agree to decorate their car with checkers or even repaint. Entrepreneurs who are willing to invest in equipping cars are afraid of the other - extortion from the traffic police. All of these additional costs will be covered by tariff increases. In addition, general discontent promises to flow into protests, which Moscow taxi drivers threaten to arrange in August.
