I understand that it’s easiest to get an idea of the design of a car from its images. But in the design center, shooting is prohibited, and I could not photograph the new Rio. The most that the Koreans managed to persuade was to provide me with car sketches. Frankly, the drawings very accurately reflect the essence of the new Kia Rio. This bright and at the same time European restrained car will surely stand out in the stream of cars. The image is dynamic, complete, there is nothing superfluous in it. In the exterior pronounced sports notes prevail. Clear lines of the hood and trunk and the energetic shape of the sidewall of the body give the hand of the master - Peter Schreyer, the chief designer of the brand. It was under his leadership that the entire range of Kia gained a finished look, and the new Rio fit perfectly into it.

The brand “tiger smile” on the false radiator grille determines the new car’s affiliation with the Kia. But not only thanks to her, the new Rio attracts the eye. Headlights with a black edging, powerful bumpers and rims add to the design of the model a good aggression. “In this new project, we focused on creating the right proportions and an attractive silhouette. And, of course, we carefully worked out the details,”says Seung-Bin Im, Rio's chief exterior designer.
“What then was the work of Kia chief designer Peter Schreyer on this model?” I wondered.
- He developed a design strategy: the characteristic features that should be inherent in all our cars. We followed this strategic line. Mr. Schreyer controlled everything regarding the appearance of the machine as a whole and the individual parts, proportions and volume.
