Night vision systems

In practice, everything looks pretty simple. Infrared spotlights are installed in the headlight unit, an infrared camera is located at the upper edge of the windshield. The computer processes the image, and the resulting image is displayed. So, for example, looks like a night vision system on Mercedes-Benz.
Infrared rays are invisible and therefore cannot dazzle oncoming drivers. But the radius of their action is comparable to the main beam headlights. In addition, the “third eye” is not limited to “invisible lighting” alone. For example, it is possible to recognize a car as sloppy, who forgot to mark the onset of dark time by the obligatory inclusion of “dimensions”, or notice a car parked on the side of the road. Moreover, it will not be difficult to distinguish a motorcycle from a “one-eyed” car, the owner of which is too lazy to call for service and repair his brainchild. Foreign objects lying on the roadway, for example, boxes or boards that fell from the truck, will be clearly visible on the display. And finally, the most important thing: the system is trained in advance to warn the driver about the appearance of a crazy cyclist without reflectors or a confused pedestrian.
Night vision systems

On an unfamiliar road without lighting, night vision will help you avoid the unpleasant sensation that you are moving straight into the “black hole”: all the bends and turns of the track will be visible as during the day. And if you are blinded by an oncoming car, then you will not lose control of the car, because you can orient yourself for some time according to the picture transmitted by the camera.
BMW engineers managed to do without infrared headlights - only an infrared camera located behind the radiator grill. It works like a thermal imager and probes the space in front at a distance of up to 300 m! Three processors calculate the trajectory of the machine, and when a person is on the path of its movement, an alarm warning is displayed. A similar system is installed on some Audi models. True, its radius of action is much more modest - up to 90 m.
