Cars were found 17 kilometers from the coast, lifted and towed to the Osinovets lighthouse. The GAZ-AA lorry, which had been lying in the water for almost 70 years, emerged as the first from the waters of the lake. The cab and hood during this time rotted without a trace. Only the frame, engine, transmission and body parts are preserved. There were light bulbs in the rear light of the car, and they look almost untouched, and even the incandescent filaments are intact. The battery, in which the electrolyte was found, is also preserved, and on its cover the manufacturing date is clearly visible - 1940. Labels on tires are also well read, and in one of them there is even pressure.

Most likely, they will not restore the car - in its current dilapidated state it is more valuable for posterity. They only preserve it so that the process of destruction does not go further. The permanent place of the lorry will be the Museum of the Road of Life in Osinovec, the collection of which already contains fragments of other cars raised from the bottom a few years earlier.

Raised from the bottom of Lake Ladoga and part of the ZIS-5 frame with a rear axle and wheels. There was nothing left of the car - apparently, it was swept away by a direct hit by a shell or air bomb. And there are many such trucks that went to the bottom whole or almost completely destroyed by the enemy during shelling and air raids. The divers involved in the operation know the exact location of nearly two dozen more cars. We saw tractors, barges, planes, tanks under water.

There is evidence that during the two winters on the "Road of Life" only 1, 100 trucks lost. Work on their rise is yet to come. After all, we honor and remember …
