Range Rover Evoque

The nature of the creation of the Evoque was the LRX concept. The developers even left a three-door modification unique to this class, dubbing it a coupe. True, for the sake of layout and aerodynamics, the production car was made wider (1908 and 1900 mm) and higher (1605 and 1570 mm), but a little shorter (4340 and 4355 mm).
In addition, they wanted to maintain the main qualities inherent in all the "ranks", including confidence on the roads. Evoque does not have low gear and hard locks, but the geometric cross-country ability is excellent: ground clearance - 212 mm, entry and exit angles - 25 and 22º, fording depth - 500 mm.

The panoramic view system has five cameras: a pair is placed in front, one on the sides and one more at the back - it also helps when parking on the road. The picture is transferred to the central display, on which additional graphics appear that facilitate parking, including with a trailer.
They will be offered a completely insecure automatic system: the car itself rotates the steering wheel, and the one sitting behind it only presses the pedals.

Evoque proves that it Range Rover is also a characteristic interior design for English off-road vehicles, expensive materials in decoration, and high-tech equipment. The driver has at his disposal high-speed Internet, modernized voice control with prompts, digital television, navigation and audio system, whose data is recorded on the hard disk.
Already installed 8-inch monitors in the front head restraints, the screen on the instrument panel is equipped with a separate viewing function - the driver and passenger see different pictures from their seats. The atmosphere in the cabin can be changed by setting one of five background lights: from cozy blue to sporty red.

All-wheel drive designs of Evoque and Freelander are similar as two drops of water: the drive is permanent, without downshifts, and the Haldex coupling redistributes the traction between the front and rear axles. The Terrain Response system with four modes: “road”, “gravel or snow”, “dirt or roots”, “sand” helps to facilitate off-road driving.
With a click of the washer on the center console, the corresponding algorithms for the operation of all-wheel drive, engine, transmission, suspension and electric power steering are included. Other electronic assistants work on board: a modernized descent system from the mountain, control of lateral rolls, a stabilization system (including when riding with a trailer), help when starting up.

Thanks to the computer-aided design of CAE, the seat frame has lost 3 kg. It is made of high strength and thin (0.7–0.9 mm) steel, its elements are connected by laser welding. The necessary rigidity is achieved by accurately calculating the shape of the parts, and not by increasing their thickness.
In addition to comfortable seats with six to eight adjustments, they offer more tenacious sports seats with developed lateral support and an integrated headrest. Instead of a single rear sofa, you can order a pair of individual seats.
In total, the list of 16 interior design options. Most Evoque interior elements are made from recycled materials, while natural materials weigh 21 kg. By the way, about 10 m² of leather (these are three cow skins) are spent on finishing a rich set.
Evoque engines - direct injection and turbocharged. The upgraded 2.2-liter diesel engine (DW12C) delivers 140 kW / 190 hp. at 3500 rpm and 420 N • m at 1750 rpm. By reducing friction losses and the mass of some parts, installing new nozzles and glow plugs, as well as a recirculation system with more efficient gas cooling and a turbine with a higher operating temperature, it was possible to seriously improve power characteristics and reduce harmful emissions. And the double walls of the turbine exhaust pipe and additional sound absorbing elements on the engine muffled the voice of the diesel engine.
Engine

The two-liter gasoline turbo engine Si4 Evoque in power slightly exceeds the atmospheric 3.2-liter unit for Freelander (240 versus 233 hp), and the consumption is on average 8% lower. This is largely due to the high injection pressure (up to 200 bar), intermediate cooling of the air supplied to the cylinders, adjustable phases and a turbine with variable capacity.
The Evoque is built on the upgraded LR-MS platform that Land Rover Freelander uses. However, to make the car more fit and dynamic, it was thoroughly redesigned. For example, 90% of the parts in the suspension are new: original subframes, levers, hinges, shock absorbers and springs with other characteristics. As a result, the center of gravity has become lower, the track is wider - the car holds onto the road better and is more precisely controlled.
For greater comfort and better handling, the third-generation electronically controlled MagneRide suspension is offered. Inside the shock absorbers, a synthetic fluid with metal particles that changes properties when voltage is applied, respectively, and the damping characteristic looks different. The developers claim that such a suspension was first tuned off-road - it can be rebuilt in just 2 seconds if the coating changes under the wheels.
Skeleton

The Evoque designers fought for every kilogram. The roof, bumper amplifiers, sills, many suspension parts made of aluminum. Moreover, computer technology made it possible to remove another 2.5 kg from the hood, also made of “winged” metal, without compromising rigidity and safety.
