Statistics is inexorable: the number of accidents due to the unsatisfactory condition of roads in Russia continues to grow. For example, if in 2009 5098 people died in such accidents, then in 2010 - 5889. And the share of accidents due to "road" reasons increased over the year from 18.7 to 21%. But this does not mean at all that our tracks have finally fallen into disrepair. Just the driver has become smarter. How was it before? Flew into the pit, struck the wheel, bent the disc - and so what? He remembered the road workers with an unkind word, put a spare wheel and went to look for the nearest tire service. And now - he’ll probably cause a traffic cop, that act will be, he will photograph a pit from all angles. And now the lawsuit is ready, but in statistics - a new figure …
the main road
On federal highways, the majority of accidents (approximately 70%) occur in uninhabited territories, and only a third - in settlements. According to the results of 2010, 22, 733 traffic accidents (+ 5%) occurred in the federal states, in which 6, 516 died and 32, 280 were injured of varying severity. We have only about 50, 000 km of federal roads - we get one accident per 2 km. Or one wounded 1.5 km. Too much …
Road workers regularly analyze accident data, trying to determine why cars regularly beat in one place or another. According to the results of 2010, they identified as many as 2904 sections of high concentration of road accidents on federal highways, of which 247 were very dangerous.
It has long been known for a set of measures to reduce the number of accidents. In settlements and at the entrances to them, it is necessary to build pedestrian crossings at different levels and put lights, to build dividing barriers between oncoming streams along the entire length of roads, to follow the markings and signs. Something, of course, is being done. Last year, about 600 km of barrier fences and more than 100, 000 new signs were installed, and 13, 000 (!) Illegal congresses were eliminated at the same time.
The measures taken, as Alexander Gordienko, the head of the Rosavtodor Automobile Transport and Traffic Safety Department, said, allowed the elimination of 1, 194 traffic accidents. This, of course, is good, but, as experience shows, new dangerous places will appear, and often these will be just the sites commissioned after reconstruction. After all, the better the road, the stronger the desire of some fellow citizens to “anneal” along it - with all that it implies …
According to the Federal Highway Agency, the most dangerous routes are now the M2 "Crimea" (Moscow - Belgorod; 208 hazardous sections recorded), the M7 "Volga" (Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod; 172 sections) and the M10 "Russia" (Moscow - St. Petersburg; 132). And the safest track in Russia is Kolyma (Yakutsk - Magadan). There, in one year, only one accident was officially recorded! The fertile land, it turns out.
By city and by weight
If you turn off the federal highways to regional and municipal, the situation will become worse. In recent years, even less money has been allocated to repair and maintain these roads! Everyone knows what this leads to. The situation studies on regional and municipal routes are regularly conducted by the Interregional Public Center “For the Safety of Russian Roads”. For some key regions of the European part of the Russian Federation, it compiles its security rating. The following inputs are used in the calculation: the number of accidents, the number of fatalities / injuries due to poor road conditions (these data are provided by the traffic police), the number of cars in the region, and the population.
According to the results of 2010, Tyumen, Ulyanovsk, Yekaterinburg, Saratov, Lipetsk, Penza, Moscow, Ryazan (city + region) were recognized as the safest regions. The leader of the Tyumen rating has the smallest ratio of the number of accidents that occurred due to road conditions to the total number of accidents - 6% (average Russian indicator - 21%). In the first group, as you noticed, Moscow is also present, but, according to experts, the capital is gradually losing its advantage. The pace of construction of new roads just can not keep up with the growth of the fleet, as a result, the number of accidents is growing.
Izhevsk, Novosibirsk, Kirov, Volgograd, St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl, Barnaul, Voronezh, Omsk, Orenburg, Arkhangelsk are among the group of regions with satisfactory road safety. For the second year in a row, the number of “road” crashes in St. Petersburg has been growing: over the year their share has increased from 15 to 18.8%. No wonder, it turns out that residents of the Northern capital are outraged by the quality of the maintenance of streets and roads in the city.
The group with the most dangerous roads are Samara, Perm, Ufa, Nizhny Novgorod, Chelyabinsk, Kazan. Road problems are being solved here slowly, and every heavy snowfall turns into a natural disaster. By the way, in Samara, according to opinion polls, among the population the highest percentage of people dissatisfied with the condition of roads is about 70%! But Bashkortostan and Tatarstan are the leaders in the number of deaths in road accidents (in 2010 - 125 and 131 people, respectively), which is why they were at the very bottom of the list.
There are emergency dangerous places in any large city. Moreover, both traffic cops and local authorities know about their existence. For example, in Moscow, very often, accidents occur at the intersection of Kadashevskaya Embankment and Bolshaya Ordynka, Nikoloyamskaya and Zemlyanoy Val, Bolshaya Filevskaya and Minskaya, at Kutuzovsky Prospekt, at the intersection of Ryabinovaya Street and Mozhayskoye Shosse, Volgogradsky Prospekt and Lyublinskaya Street …
Such places can be counted a lot. The causes of frequent accidents are known here, as well as possible ways to eliminate them. For example, at the intersection of Lublin Street and Volgogradsky Prospekt, powerful traffic flows (these are directions to large sleeping areas), there is a long-standing need to build a modern interchange. But "in return" they built … a shopping center. Comments, as they say, are unnecessary.
