They have all-wheel drive, sturdy suspension, high ground clearance, which allow them to overcome moderate off-road conditions and confidently roll on broken asphalt. SUVs are equally appropriate in an urban environment, where other trump cards come to the fore: maneuverability, good visibility, a roomy interior with developed capabilities for its transformation, a convincing set of vital amenities. It was the universal nature of SUVs that made them so popular. It is not surprising that most leading automakers are striving to grab a larger piece from the tidbit.
Moreover, dumping does not smell in this market niche - Korean SUVs of the new wave Hyundai ix35 and Kia Sportage are on par with Japanese giants Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Suzuki Grand Vitara. A well-equipped crossover will be expensive or very expensive, the latter applies to premium cars of German and English blood, including Mercedes-Benz GLK, Land Rover Freelander 2.

In my opinion…
- With the extreme scarcity of the budget, you can look at the "truncated" SUVs, devoid of all-wheel drive. Prices for most “full-fledged” crossovers with a 4x4 wheel arrangement start at 940 thousand rubles. In my opinion, the most interesting in terms of the balance of consumer characteristics are Toyota RAV4, Nissan Qashqai, Volkswagen Tiguan, Kia Sportage. And the most wasteful options at the same time and the most prestigious are the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLK, Land Rover Freelander 2.
With similar sizes, the off-road potential of crossovers varies significantly. But in any case, the representatives of the parquet genre are really impenetrable. If the habitat or lifestyle is often forced to climb into the mud on the hub, you need to ask the price of other cars that are left out of the "parquet essay". First of all, these are the relatively affordable UAZ Patriot Sport and the three-door Tagaz Tager, but both cannot boast refined behavior on the asphalt. Two serious SUVs of the Jeep brand - Liberty and Cherokee - fit into the indicated dimensions.
