The press release about the car that came to me is not entirely simple, because it is addressed to dealers: a kind of instruction for the recruitment of us, buyers. Therefore - oh horror! - some very secret notes on the fields remained uncleared. How do you like this: “Assure the customer that Crosstour and Accord are completely different models”? But we all know that the car was built just on the basis of the American Accord and has been selling overseas for a year now!
MANUFACTURER DATA

However, their Accord is different - both in appearance and in filling. Among the features - the optional 3.5-liter “six” with a power of 275 hp: we know it only from the flagship sedan Legend and SUV Pilot. The buyer will not have an alternative to this motor. In Europe, Crosstour does not plan to sell, only in Russia and Ukraine. They will offer us only an all-wheel drive modification (in the USA there is an opportunity to get a front-wheel drive, cheaper). Another key feature for our motorists: Crosstour's ground clearance is 205 mm. Let's try this whole set in business?
I went to the car, noting along the way - in life it is more and more solid than it seems in the photo. I jump inside and find myself in a restrained but confident embrace of a leather electric chair with memory. Landing is low, comfortable in a light. Starting the engine seems to go unnoticed by an almost two-ton body: the car is silent and unshakable at idle.

The vibration load is also minimal in movement, even on stiffened lanes. Pendants perfectly fulfill the trifle and do not pass in front of large craters. It would seem that in this situation it would be naive to count on good handling. There it was! Given the ground clearance, she deserves only a kind word. Crosstour follows the wheel, which comes naturally, with the joy and lightness of a passenger progenitor, almost without heeling in a turn.
Of course, a feeling of lightness and mutual understanding with the driver gives the tandem of the engine and transmission, moreover, tied in one knot with the steering. Who said five-step is the last century? The box quietly shifts gears even at maximum acceleration, allows you to play gearshift paddles and honestly holds the selected step to the limiter. And if you go under traction in a corner, which detects the lateral acceleration sensor, switching up in automatic mode occurs later.
The five-speed automatic is distinguished by its excellent rate of fire. In manual mode, the box holds the gear and does not shift to higher gear

Engine power is more than enough. The motor is equipped with a VCM system that cuts off the fuel supply in three or two cylinders under low load conditions. So from the point of view of economy, Crosstour is preferable to comparable power counterparts. Under a full throttle, the engine readily spins up to six-odd thousand - not surprisingly, because Honda has always loved boosted motors.
All-wheel drive is managed by the Real Time 4WD system, as on the CR-V: the electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch connects the rear wheels only when the front wheel is slipping. Therefore, on a dry surface, the character of front-wheel drive is manageable. When the front wheels slip, the hydraulics that connect the rear axle come into play. On the asphalt, this scheme works well, but on the roads it’s not very good - Crosstour manages to bury its front end before help comes from the rear wheels.
Here's a car: nice and precise to drive, not afraid of bad roads, but fearful of off-road sorties. Extremely fast and very spacious. And not at all like the familiar Accord. So your own name is justified.
