In recent years, the segment of utilitarian off-road vehicles, although gradually, has been steadily growing. It is gratifying that, along with well-known players (L200, BT-50, Navara), manufacturers are introducing new models to our market (Hilux, Amarok).

True, despite its purpose, pickups in our country for most buyers have not yet become assistants in the household. Some just want to save money, while receiving a large, inspiring on the road and beyond its frame car with four-wheel drive transmission. Therefore, these trucks are purchased as a more affordable alternative to a full all-terrain vehicle (the latter are significantly more expensive). Others see in them a fashionable toy for transporting an ATV, snowmobile, jet ski, boat, etc.

There is a third category - wealthy fishermen, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts.

Wingle, which went on sale in 2007, replaced Deer, one of the most popular Chinese pickups on our market. The car has a memorable appearance, but, I think, this is not the merit of local masters: it painfully resembles the Volkswagen Magellan concept.

Since last year, only a 110-horsepower 2.2-liter gasoline engine (instead of the previous 2.8-liter diesel) is installed under the hood, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Soon they promise to expand the engine range with the introduction of two new diesel engines (the question is now being decided - which ones).

Pickup is offered in three trim levels. Front airbags and anti-lock brakes, as well as a leather interior and heated mirrors are only the most expensive version, for which they ask for 45, 000 rubles more. Test - ZR, 2009, No. 3.

For the first time Ulyanovsk presented a 5-seater pickup at the Moscow Motor Show in 2008. It is built on the platform of the "Patriot" (more precisely, "Cargo") with an increased wheelbase to 3000 mm and is able to take on board up to 800 kg of cargo.

The car was also presented to the public at the Moscow Motor Show in 2008. Starting next year, cars appeared in dealerships. The pickup was developed by the design bureau of the Taganrog Automobile Plant in Korea. It is built on the basis of SsangYong Musso Sports.

The body is a two-door double, non-alternative engine - a 2.6-liter diesel engine of its own design with a capacity of 105 hp. mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Four-wheel drive, downshift. Appearance Actyon is unlikely to leave anyone indifferent - he does not occupy extravagance. Since April last year, cars have been produced at the Far Eastern plant of the company (they were previously imported from Korea). This allowed us to make their cost more attractive and competitive.

The “sports” are driven by a 141-horsepower 2-liter diesel engine, which is docked with a 5-speed manual gearbox or with a 6-speed automatic. The most popular pickup truck in our market debuted in 2005. Created based on the "Dakar" prototype Pajero Evo, from which he got a recognizable look.

Even the retouched appearance with new bumpers and a chrome-plated radiator grill gives the head the age of a car that is already more than ten years old.

The same applies to interior decoration - take at least the sliders of the ventilation and heating systems. But for such a hard worker this is not the main thing. More importantly, it has a rather large platform with a carrying capacity of more than a ton, a hard-drive all-wheel drive, and in the engine compartment there is a 2.5-liter diesel engine with a capacity of 133 hp, for which an ordinary high-pressure pump controls the fuel supply.

Such a unit is not as demanding on the quality of diesel fuel as modern engines with a “Common Rail”. NP300 is a workhorse. No wonder the manufacturer positions it as a commercial vehicle. The base has only front airbags and ABS. Air conditioning put more expensive versions (from 935 000 rubles).

BT-50 and Ranger are twin brothers (they are assembled on the same conveyor in Thailand). Mazda BT-50 saw the light in 2006, in 2008 it was modernized. The first brand-name pickup of its own design in the history was presented at the beginning of 2010, by the fall, cars reached Russia. The gearbox is only mechanical, with six gears.

Since 2012, they promise to start delivering versions with a gasoline engine of the same volume (160 hp) and cars with a two-seater cab (now only four-door ones are imported). The appearance of an automaton is not ruled out. The Volkswagen base is rear-wheel drive, but for an extra charge it will be equipped with a plug-in front, downshift and many off-road assistants.
