The previous approach to the highway ended with a “golden” reconstruction from the Moscow Ring Road to Shcherbinka. Behind the ring, Varshavka was made eight-lane and without traffic lights, which further complicated the movement at the entrance to the capital.
The construction of doubles was also considered: Vostochny (from the Garden Ring to the fork of the Warsaw and Kashirsky Highways, with two bridges over the railway) and Zapadnoy (from Shabolovka Street to the Moscow Ring Road, they wanted to build it along the border of the Bitsevsky Forest - the initiative met with strong protests from residents).
Firstly, it is planned to lay additional lateral doubles along the highway 10.5 m wide, three lanes on each side from the Moscow Ring Road to the Varshavskaya metro station.
Secondly, instead of a dividing strip, chippers will be installed, such as on the roundabout, which is supposed to allow expanding the highway by a couple of meters. Thirdly, the highway will receive two new interchanges, one of which will definitely appear in the Annino microdistrict (now, to leave from there towards the center, you have to turn around through the Moscow Ring Road), where the second will be - for now, the question is. Interchanges are requested at the intersection of the highway with Balaklava Avenue, Academician Yangel Street or Podolsky Cadets. But let’s not guess, there’s still no talk about them …
It is planned to build, according to one data - six, according to others - eight underground passages. And in addition, as part of the reconstruction, it is planned to lay a tram line along the streets of Krasnaya Mayak and Podolsky Cadets and build a new overpass through the railway - from Warsaw highway to Lipetskaya street.
And for the sweet
By the end of this year, dedicated Vip-bands for public transport will appear on Varshavka - from the Garden Ring right up to Podolsk itself. Unlike the existing sections on Volokolamsk Highway and Andropov Avenue, the new lanes will be equipped with video cameras, pockets for bus stops and parking lots for drivers who wish to change from a personal car to a bus or trolleybus. For the sake of "highlighting" the layout of the entire Warsaw highway will be changed. So, the left lanes will be 3.2 m, the right lane for public transport - 3.5 m, taking into account the width of the bus and the place for boarding and disembarking passengers.
According to officials, the reconstruction project took into account that the Varshavskaya metro station has “additional throughput”, which makes it possible to organize a transport hub with the possibility of a transfer to the Paveletsky railway … But there is simply nowhere to build TPU at Varshavskaya there is a shopping center. Is there an adequate replacement - the construction of a junction near the Nagatinskaya metro station, let's see.
The well-known misfortune of this route is left turns. It is estimated that the construction of pockets on each of them would increase throughput by 35%. Maybe you should start with them - before entering the Big Warsaw Project ?!
