Pirelli burst out in first place. And in order to dispel all doubts about the validity of claims to leadership, she set records in three exercises at once. And she also confirmed the title of the driver’s bus itself, and not very expensive: the price / quality ratio is 3.81.

Nokian (with increased carrying capacity) is held in prize-winners, combining excellent brakes and high fuel efficiency. Price / quality - 4.22, almost on a par with Michelin.

Third on the podium is Toyo, with its new model. She was able to get a couple of points ahead of the eminent Michelin, who became fourth and repeated last year's result.

Kumho finally entered the top five, despite the bubbles swelling on the sidewalls. This is a detailed story in the next section of the article.

The ambitious Hanhook with the oldest model in our competitions caught up with the leader of last year's test - Continental, which, by the way, has been unstable lately. In terms of price / quality, both tires are the most expensive.

Maxis, outlining a tendency to improve performance, set another new product (3.67 - very inexpensive for 94W) against Cordiant. The new low-speed Sawa (3.14 - the most delicious offer) is almost equivalent to the more expensive and new Bridgestone model with a price / quality ratio of 3.21, as well as Cordiant noticeably behind the rivals. Closes the Infiniti system with very modest characteristics, offering at a reasonable price increased speed and lifting qualities.

We draw attention to the fact that we were forced to dilute the tires with a combination of load and speed indices of standard size 205 / 55R16 and speed 91V (615 kg, 240 km / h) with faster and higher load-bearing ones. The fact is that many manufacturers of slow tires do not have an index V, and someone acts as heavyweights with an index of 94 (670 kg).

Note that an increase in both indices negatively affects the comfort of tires, and besides, high-speed ones behave more nervously in a short shift. Yes, and they are usually more expensive. Exceptions are “Sava” with a speed index H (210 km / h) and “Amtel” with a load index of 90 (600 kg), although this peculiar benefit did not help them.

LARGE TIRES

After mounting the Kumho Ecsta HM KH31 91W (made in China) test tires on the wheels, blisters appeared on the sides of all four. Somewhere more, somewhere less, where is one bump, and where is a group of three in a row. The tire with the largest bladder was replaced - but the spare went hernias.

We decided to take a chance and allowed the tires to be tested, although the toughest exercises - braking from 100 km / h and especially rearrangement - raised concerns: if the tire bursts, turn the car over for a short while! But God was merciful, and the tire cones even showed a very good result - in the first five.

After completing the tests, the tires were sent to the manufacturer. The official answer came.

The noted problem concerns only tires 205 / 55ZR16 91W of this model, DOT0910 (production date - 9th week of 2010), manufactured at a particular enterprise. Wherein:

- the tire carcass is not damaged and is able to perform its functions;

- in the shoulder area of all five tires, a rubber sealing layer on the inside of the carcass of insufficient thickness, because air penetrates under the outer layer of the sidewall;

The tires were subjected to bench tests - checking for compliance with the requirements of ECE R-30 Regulation, according to which tires must withstand movement at a speed of 270 km / h on a drum with a diameter of 1.7 m for at least 60 minutes. Tires collapsed in the 63rd minute, that is, the tests passed successfully.

It turned out that 888 tires of the same batch by the control system were rejected and disposed of (cut) due to a similar problem - insufficient thickness of the rubber sealing layer on the inside of the tires. According to the manufacturer, no more than 20 tires slipped into retail - by chance, five of them were on our test.

Summary

Swelling on the sidewalls occurred due to insufficient thickness of the sealing layer of rubber on the inside of the tires. All of these tires comply with the requirements of ECE R-30 regarding relatively long driving at maximum speed. Tire design changes are not required, the plant received an order to tighten the control procedure for finished products.

Sudden changes are not recommended even on a dry road - the speed of a successful lane change is the lowest, and even that is limited by an unexpected sharp drift, requiring an immediate response. Sometimes it is not possible to stabilize a car that has crashed into a skid, unless by anticipatory actions.

Wet road forces you to significantly reduce speed. The reason for this is the same sharp breakdown into a deep drift, which is not always possible to parry. Brakes on the dry road are the weakest: the difference with the leader of the exercise is 4.4 m. On the wet one, too, is the last place: inferior to the leader of the exercise even more - 6.6 m.

The rustling of the tread is clearly audible. On any irregularities they jump like balls, tossing a car.

Fuel consumption at 60 km / h is below average, at 90 km / h - modest. The primer is acceptable to a limited extent.

They keep the line well at high speed, good steering response. Everything is spoiled by a significant steering axle steering that occurs when the steering wheel is slightly deviated from the “zero” position. It is not possible to increase it by a deep progressive drift, and the driver is prevented by very large steering angles and tangible delays.

On wet roads, the situation is slightly better. But a sharp unexpected drift remains, as well as a noticeable delay in the execution of steering commands. The braking properties of dry land are below average, on wet roads the tires are closer to the middle peasants. Noisy: thump on bumps, add sound when braking, sing up to 60 km / h. Sharply toss the car on the bumps and shake it on the road seams.

Предельная скорость ограничена мягким заносом и близка к рекордной в упражнении. Четкие и плавные реакции с легкой задержкой гарантируют уверенную езду.

На мокром асфальте предельный занос остается плавным, практически не требуя корректировки. Управление автомобилем надежное, поведение понятное, без подвохов. Тормозят на сухом асфальте с четвертым результатом, на мокром - наравне с «Конти». Лучше только «Пирелли».

Ярко выраженный шум качения стихает после 80 км/ч. Пропускают на кузов толчки от стыков и выпуклых неровностей. Economical at any speed. The primer is acceptable to a limited extent.

Ровный курс, четкий «ноль» и хорошие реакции при корректировке направления. Однако подруливание задней оси, переходящее в легкую избыточную поворачиваемость, не тянет на оценку «норма» (8 баллов). Скорость переставки на сухой дороге рекордная за все время наших тестов. Правда, достичь ее удалось только на прогретых шинах, на холодных срывы в скольжения чуть резче. Отменный баланс управляемости и легкий вправляющий занос, не требующий компенсации.

На мокром покрытии ставят еще один рекорд скорости. При переставке машина идет за рулем, мгновенно откликаясь даже на несколько градусов поворота, и ведет себя примерно. В торможении на сухой дороге проигрывают «Континенталю» лишь 10 см, зато на мокрой берут реванш, останавливая машину почти на метр раньше.

О комфорте на таких драйверских шинах не думают - пусть себе бухают и шуршат, и толкают кузов на стыках. Расход топлива близок к средним результатам. Грунтовка не рекомендуется.
