For transportation of large luggage, the backs of the rear seats of the VAZ-2112 can be folded. In the normal position, they are fixed by simple spring-loaded clamps. If you want to open it, pull on the elegant plastic pipka. Feel a dull click - the latch is open, the back can be folded. But so smoothly everything happens only in theory. In practice, even grabbing a tiny part is not easy … But if you pull it harder, the plastic spring retainer breaks and the aforementioned part falls out of the lock with the rod.

This ridiculous situation spoiled the mood of many. So isn’t it better to make the construction reliable and convenient once and for all? To do this, fold the seatback, unscrew the screws that secure the upholstery - and remove the lock. Having disassembled it, replace the plastic spring retainer with a steel washer and lock it with a cotter pin. Under it, in the right place of the rod, we drill a hole with a diameter of 3 mm. And in the plastic handle we will make a hole with a diameter of 6 mm and we will extend a strong lace into it, tying it in a ring. With the latches so modified, it is much more convenient to tilt the back.
Now let's take care of the gear lever. On machines of the 2110 family, it often turns into a rattle, annoyingly making it clear that the pin and hinge sleeve are thoroughly worn. You can tighten the nut, but soon the "cricket" will come to life again. The trouble with such levers is that they work in contact with many rotating and vibrating parts of the gearbox, and therefore the nature of their noise, among other things, depends simply on the gaps in the hinge: more wear - the parts are more itchy.

To get rid of this trouble, you will have to disassemble the gearbox control actuator. Let us raise the lever cover and, for convenience, in the left wall of the duct, opposite the locking screw, drill a hole with a diameter of 8 mm. It will allow you to unscrew this screw with a screwdriver. It remains to unscrew the axis nut - and the assembly can be disassembled! The edges of the holes in the sleeve must be countersinked onto the cone. But not everyone has the necessary countersink - we replace it with a drill with a diameter of 18 mm. The conical surface should be clean, free of burrs - sand it with sandpaper. When assembling the assembly from both ends of the sleeve, we put oil-resistant rubber rings on the axis of the ring. Lubricate the parts slightly.
