The life of the Matiz generator is fleeting - we mentioned this in ЗР, 2008, No. 11. The first troubles associated with the diode bridge often ripen after 10-15 thousand km or after a year of operation. The reason is simple: the minus horseshoe of the diode bridge is connected to the housing through … brass rivets. It would seem that everyone knows that they try not to use such an unreliable connection even in household appliances, not to mention the car. Korean engineers forgot about electrochemical corrosion? And its products soon increase the transition resistance in contact with the “mass”, and the generator fails: diodes are often destroyed - they simply explode. In addition, removing the unit to repair or replace is not so easy - a small machine is crowded under the hood.

It is better, without waiting for a refusal, to remove the generator and modify it on the advice of the author of the idea Denis Rezumov (on the forum - Boniface). The essence is simple and clear from the figure: after removing the bridge, we drill brass rivets flush with the surface of the minus horseshoe, clean it from oxides, and then fasten it in place through spring (grovers) or serrated (crown) washers. It is useful to cover the connection with some kind of anticorrosive, for example Movil, and choose the galvanized washers.

On machines in the MX and Best trim levels, the intermittent wiper mode is easy to supplement by adjusting the pause. A variable resistor of 20 kOhm is required - it is installed in the gap of the gray wire coming from the steering column switch to terminal 53 from the wiper pause relay. Then, at zero resistance, the pause will be regular 4 s, and at maximum - about 20 s. By the way, such a refinement can be carried out on any machine where a similar relay is installed, for example, Chevrolet Lanos or Hyundai Getz.

On the "Matiz" doors are lightweight, so they have to clap harder, otherwise they simply do not close. And there is no corresponding signaling device, as on more expensive cars. As an option, you can modify the interior ceiling lamp - place four LEDs along its edges, each of which is connected to the limit switch of its own door. Four more limiting resistors and the same number of diodes will be needed to “decouple” the signals from the doors. We pass the wires under the skin of the ceiling and put it in the door racks. Now it’s easy to determine which of the passengers did not close the door.
