205 / 55R16

In the first place is the debutant Nokian HKPL 7. She, like her predecessors, shines on ice-snow roads, does not like clean asphalt and remains the most expensive. The novelty feature - with it the car has a very low (of course, in comparison with others) fuel consumption. However, the one who buys these tires is hardly concerned about saving. Value for money - 8.61.

Michelin X-Ice North 2, the French-made newcomer to Russia, took second place. This is a truly universal winter tire. Note that the "Russian French" are more loyal to the asphalt and less ambitious. Price / quality ratio - 7.00.

The old ContiWinterViking 2 climbed up to the third step of the podium - there is still gunpowder in the powder flasks! So, the “winter three” Conti, Michelin and Nokian are still in the lead.

Fourth place for Pirelli, which showed itself well on icy roads. Behind her is the Korean newcomer Kumho KW 22 - without obvious preferences for the state of coverage, with an attractive price / quality ratio: 4.61. In sixth place is the same versatile and equally tolerant of any road and also the economical Goodyear UltraGrip Extreme.

A little further away is the next three, more modest in characteristics. Seventh - the new economical tire Toyo Observe OBG2S (price / quality - 4.85). Behind it is the purely asphalt Maxxis Presa Spike and the more suitable for the snow Bridgestone Ice Cruiser 5000, separated by only one point.

195 / 65R15

Tires of this dimension can often be used to replace the more expensive 205 / 55R16. Since in this test the prices of "tag" are very close to each other, when comparing it is more useful to focus on the price / quality ratio.

Common disadvantages of inexpensive tires are not only moderate performance and comfort level, but also low quality studs. Most models, due to overly recessed spikes, cannot provide acceptable grip on ice and rolled snow. The only exception is the Cordiant, but here the excessive elevation of the studs above the rubber is alarming: are they held securely in the tires?

Sno-Max is far superior to its competitors! He is clearly “imprisoned” under ice and snow, but he also feels confident on the pavement.

Significantly behind the leader, the second and third places were taken by Amtel and Kama - station wagons for any winter road. The cheapest offer (price / quality - 2.44) comes from Amtel. Or is it a bonus for the loud noise he makes while moving? Nizhnekamsk “snow leopard” (Irbis) is distinguished by low, but even marks in all subjective tests.

A little further, with a gap of about 20 points, Wanli and Matador are grouped. Their level is very close, but the orientation is different. Chinese tires, judging by our results, are designed more for ice and are afraid of deep snow. Russian-Slovak Matador, recently related to Continental, feels more confident in the snow. Both tires are the most disadvantageous in terms of price / quality: Wanli - 2.62, Matador - 2.64.

Behind everyone, without gaining even 800 points, the Ukrainian Rosava is shy, which is best used only on clean asphalt.

They are afraid of the icy road, the grip is worse than that of others - they are reluctant to brake on ice. In the snow they accelerate and slow down very weakly.

In slippery corners are unstable. The car responds to the steering wheel with a strong delay. The speed is limited by periodic breakdowns in a deep drift. The steering wheel turn on an arc also leads to a skid.

On a snowy road, they scour much at 60 km / h. Desperately pulled into deeper snow. It is better to break through snowdrifts with good gas. After a stop, you can only start pulling, and then hesitantly. Reverse reluctantly exported.

On asphalt, a car in such shoes is sensitive to crosswinds, but without it, it shies from side to side. Reactions to corrective actions are sluggish, blurry. But they slow down the best.

When driving, they emit a strong high-frequency hum. When speed decreases, they howl like a train on the subway. Hardly transfer any irregularities to the body.

Fuel consumption is very moderate.

The quality of the studding is mediocre: the spread of the protrusion is large, and its average value is not enough for good adhesion on ice and rolled snow.

Acceleration and braking on ice are weak, but on snow, acceleration is better than that of others, and braking is not bad.

On a slippery road, it is undesirable to rush with this rubber - delayed reactions interfere with reliable control in corners. The speed is limited by a pronounced drift of the front axle and straightening the trajectory. When turning the steering wheel on an arc of rotation, skidding is possible.

It’s also better to go slower along a snowy road - the car scours a lot, especially with uneven snow depth.

In deep snow, tires run in all modes, although they prefer tightness to tightness. Getting out is also better without slipping.

They allow you to drive fast on asphalt - they carry the car exactly like the summer ones, clearly responding to the direction adjustment. The braking properties are average.

They publish a uniform, non-irritating hum, tremble on small road irregularities.

Fuel consumption at 90 km / h is moderate.

The studding is sloppy - the spikes protrude very unevenly, and sit on average too deep.

Acceleration and deceleration on ice are average, on snow it is weaker than the rest.

In slippery corners, they can demonstrate perfect front-wheel drive behavior. The speed is limited by a soft, easily removable skid of the rear axle. Clear reactions help drive the car.

On a snowy road goes smoothly, do not dig. It’s better not to go into deep snow: you can only go through it without stopping. It’s difficult to start - the wheels immediately bury. True, there remains a small chance to get out in reverse.

Prowl slightly on the pavement, requiring constant adjustment. They brake the worst.

Extremely quiet tires, but vibrate even on a flat road, strongly push the body at the joints.

Fuel efficiency is the best.

The quality of studding is average: the spread of the protrusion is large, and its average value is not enough for good adhesion on ice and rolled snow.

They brake well on ice, acceleration is better than average. In the snow, they also brake well, but they accelerate weakly.

Reliable control on slippery roads is prevented by prolonged reactions and blurry car behavior. Speed is limited by drift, the beginning of which is difficult to catch. And when it has already developed - the back of the car breaks down, like a trailer.

On loose snow the car scouches, goes to a depth where it strives to turn around. Snowdrifts obey only the course, you can only pull out at a depth to a pull, without slipping. Reverse are reluctantly selected.

They scour the pavement, requiring constant steering, and the reactions are delayed.

The brakes are average.

They make a pulsating noise on the pavement, buzz on ice, and at 80 km / h there is a resonant noise amplification. Itching at speeds below 80 km / h, vibrate violently on any irregularities.

Fuel consumption - increased.

The quality of the studs is unsatisfactory. The spread of the protrusion is large, although on average the spikes stick out enough for good traction on ice and rolled snow.

On ice they slow down well, accelerate and keep turns medium. In the snow a little worse - here the coupling properties are average.

Before a slippery turn it is better to slow down. The car’s reactions to steering are good, but the blurry skid limits speed. It should be a little late with its adjustment - the car “shoots” in the opposite direction and starts to wind, which threatens with a loss of controllability.

On a snowy road, the car is scouring the front and rear axles, leaving in the direction of deep snow.

You can move on the virgin soil in any modes, but getting out in reverse is only a pull.

On the pavement slightly swim.

The brakes are average.

They whistle even in the snow, increasing the noise when slipping. On hard roads they howl at any speed. Strongly push the body on medium and large irregularities, vibrate on small ones.

Fuel consumption - increased.

The spread of the tongue protrusion is excessively large - more than 1 mm, and some will probably fall out soon.

The best in almost all exercises on snow and ice.

In a slippery turn, steering reactions are clear, the car's behavior is understandable. The edge of the transition to the slip is well felt, but it is possible to break the car into a skid when trying to turn the steering wheel on an arc of rotation.

On a snowy road, the car goes clearly if the snow is even, but begins to scour if its depth changes. He overcomes snowdrifts easily and in any modes - even with a slip, at least a pull.

Also gets back.

On the pavement, it clearly maintains a given trajectory, but the steering response is slow when adjusting, and the steering axle is somewhat hindered.

The brakes are average.

At 40 km / h, a popping noise of thorns is heard, at 110 km / h - a low-frequency pulsating noise. Ride without comment, "hide" in themselves even a comb.

Fuel consumption is the highest.

The spread of the studs is noticeably higher than the allowable 0.5 mm, some are unlikely to sit in the tire for a long time.
