Rumors about the BMW F800R roadster have been around for a long time, there was no shortage of spy photos and computer reconstructions. In the “S” modification - elite Ohlins instead of Showa in the standard and borrowed, again from sportbikes, electronic systems: anti-slip and data collection / analysis. Against the backdrop of the deafening premiere of Streetfighter, the appearance of the upgraded Ducati 1198 sportbikes was somehow mundane. What's new in them? Increased engine displacement, from 1099 to 1198 cm. Power increase - from 160 to 170 hp If we take into account that the dry weight is 171 kg, then even the basic version came close to the magic power ratio: 1 hp / 1 kg. And the Ducati 1198S modification, lightened to 169 kg, has crossed this line! In addition, Ohlins are installed on the Esk instead of Showa and … well, of course, the traction control system.

It is curious that the most “sharp” modification - the Ducati 1098R index has not changed. What for? After all, she received a 1200 cc engine just a year ago. In commemoration of the world title of Troy Bayliss (who decided to end his career undefeated), the company will release 500 devices of this model performed by Troy Bayliss Limited Edition.

HONDA: WINGED SILVER. Since the scooter is the No. 1 car for the Italian market, it was precisely for the motor show in Milan that the Japanese concern timed its premieres in this class. The mega-scooter Silver Wing (“Silver Wing”) from the technical side is simply magnificent, but the design, to put it mildly, is outdated - after all, and eight years have passed since the debut. Here in Milan, everyone saw that the modernization of the car affected primarily its appearance: more modern contours of the front part, new headlight and taillight, changes in the instrument panel. Technical changes are not so significant: the rigidity of the central tube of the frame has been increased, the diameter of the front disc of the combined brake system has "grown" from 256 to 276 mm … At the booth, the Japanese showed a 400 cc version of the Honda SW-T400. "Six hundred" in their country are not for sale, but we must wait, and the option with such a cubic capacity will try on new clothes.

For those who believe that “motardo is motardovo”, a modification of the KTM 990SM R with “extreme” WP suspensions (fully adjustable, coated friction surfaces with titanium compounds), Brembo radial brakes, Marchesini forged wheels has been released.

Actually, the appearance of the modification with the letter "R" could be predicted without straining the brains, because the issue of motorcycles in different stages of "sophistication" is a long tradition of the Austrians. This KTM engine has increased power (from 155 to 165 hp, and with the help of a racing whale you can squeeze all 180), fully adjustable suspensions with a coating of rubbing surfaces with titanium compounds, forged wheels, the front wing is made of carbon fiber. The base of the motorcycle is 55 mm shorter than the main version, and the weight is 2 kg less.

The modernization was also tested by the devices of the family of tourist enduros KTM 990 Adventure. New cylinder heads, improved cooling and a modified crankshaft made it possible to raise engine power from 98 to 106 hp, and the level of vibration was reduced. Another innovation is the electronic multi-functional dashboard … The “S” version was replaced by the “R” version: its engine is even more powerful (115 hp), and the suspension travel is increased by 55 mm to 265 mm.

KYMCO: ALREADY NOT AN ALIEN. Scooters of the Taiwanese company Kwang Yang Motor, known worldwide as Kymco, are commonplace on European streets. I can testify: according to my impressions, in Milan they are among the three most common, along with the products of the Piaggio and Honda concerns. This is where the genuine interest of Europeans came to the Taiwanese stand. Have you noticed small “jambs”? So after all, they are inevitable in the products of "non-star" brands. And then, they are fully compensated by the "human" price.

The star of the booth was the new Kymco Downtown maxi scooter. The appearance of a debutant is typical for cars of this class, but it stands out with a sharply pointed “beak”. Under the claddings is a 300 cc liquid-cooled engine with a 4-valve “head”, fuel injection and two vibration-suppressing balancing shafts. Asians will offer Europeans a 125 cc version. Of the unusual (or rather, not yet too widespread), I note the tire pressure sensor and the hydraulic strut that opens the saddle (under which two closed helmets will fit).

Marketers of the Italian company Malaguti managed to find such a thing: Blog (they don’t understand people who’d get out of the Internet, I’ll explain to the rest: this is such a form of cyber communication, an interactive diary on the Web). The scooter on 13-inch wheels is not high on the saddle (770 mm), with an impressive seatpost luggage rack (for two open helmets) and an expressive front end design. Engines - injection 4-stroke liquid cooling, displacement of 125 or 154 cm.

PIAGGIO: THERE, BEYOND THE HORIZON. At the stands of all companies included in the Italian concern, few new products were exhibited. But this poverty was fully compensated by the abundance of concepts and special performances.

The main debutant from the “parent” brand is the 16-inch scooter Piaggio Carnaby Cruiser 300 ie It differs from the “just Carnaby” engine - the latest 300 cc version of Quasar. But not only: the creators of the car, according to them, tried to bring its appearance closer to the motorcycle, so instead of two headlights built into the front shield, they installed one large one on the steering wheel and decorated it on top with a dashboard with two huge dials - a speedometer and a tachometer.

In the range of Vespa - only "motor" news. So, the "big" GTS can now be ordered with a 125 cc engine (however, this is relevant only for Europe). And for the "baby" of the "S" series, two fresh 4-stroke engines are prepared: 150 cc and 50 cc. The latter is especially interesting: it has a 4-valve head and an electronically controlled carburetor. With such an engine, according to Piaggio engineers, the dynamics of the machine are not inferior to the performance of a device with a 2-stroke engine: its maximum power is 4.35 hp. at 8250 rpm

At the Moto Guzzi booth, a charming cafe-racer in the style of the early 70's - V7 Cafe Classic attracted attention. The 750 cc engine of the brand’s traditional V-shaped scheme (it is now called in the company, as opposed to the 1200 cc, small block - as the legendary Chevrolet engine) is combined with the classic duplex frame, spoke wheels, clip-on steering wheel and characteristic half-saddle. The Italians also modernized the small Nevada 750 cruiser: now its front fork, mufflers and instrument panel are unified with the V7 Classic model.

Modification of the Moto Guzzi Stelvio 1200 TT is called to spur demand for the large tourist enduro Stelvio. Its creators took the path set by BMW Adventure: tires with increased lugs, extra headlights and maximum protection for all units.

The motor is installed in the chassis of the Derbi GPR125 4T 4V sportbike (previously it was produced with a 2-stroke) and the Derbi Senda DRD125R dual-use motorcycle. The company also carried out restyling of the Boulevard scooter. In the new season, it will be sold not only with a 125 cc 4-stroke engine, as before, but also with a 50 cc 2-stroke engine.

SUZUKI: THINNED “BANDIT”. It seems that the new group of designers of the concern is not very inclined to follow the traditions. But he loves bug-eyed anime heroines. Now the developers have swung at the holy - a series of Bandit. Until now, these cars have been the personification of the "motorcycle without frills." But a terrible thing happened: a 650-cubic “stripped” modification stuck a magnifier with the eyes on it, like on the GSR600. At the same time, they refreshed the design of other elements of the front of the machine: mirrors, direction indicators, and the instrument panel. The upgrade also touched the semi-fairing version of the GSF650S. Next year, apparently, there will be a "bug" and a large "Bandit." Fans of motorcycle classics, hurry!

The Japanese brought the futuristic Gemma scooter - in just a few months it was turned from a concept into a production model. But they do not plan to sell in Europe yet. It's a pity: I’m sure there would be buyers for a provocative, torpedo-like device.

YAMAHA: Naked "DIVERSION". A month earlier, in Cologne, the concern showed the new XJ6 Diversion Roadster. And in Milan, he presented a naked version with the index “just” XJ6. In technical terms, both are identical: a 4-cylinder 600 cc engine of "phaser" origin, a steel frame, ABS - on request.
