In general, the project started in April 2006. Then GAZ Group and Chrysler signed an agreement to purchase production assets of the Sterling Heights Automotive Plant (Detroit, USA). As part of the agreement, GAZ acquired a license for the production of cars, and on the American platform they created a new (as the factory workers themselves assure) passenger car. The design was developed by the famous English studio UltraMotive. The total investment is over $ 290 million.

Over two years, more than 3 thousand units of equipment were designed and delivered to Nizhny Novgorod from Detroit, designed to produce 100 thousand cars per year in a full cycle (welding, painting, assembly). Already now, about 4 thousand people work in the production of Cyber. Our specialists were trained at the Chrysler and Magna Steyr factories. They taught quality control, logistics, information technology, as well as the intricacies of painting, welding and assembly.

While the car is 70% assembled from components imported from North America, from suppliers of the brand Chrysler. The rest is already being done in Russia, at local enterprises of world manufacturers - Magna (bumpers, mirrors), Automotive Lightning (headlights, taillights), Lear (seats), Tenneco (exhaust systems), etc.. The quality of production of Cyber at all stages will be controlled by the specialists of Chrysler and Magna.
WHO WILL BUY SIBER?
According to the plans of the leaders of the GAZ Group, the full-scale production of Cyber should begin in June. In summer, cars will go to dealers so that potential buyers can get to know the car and make an order. Sales will go in September. In total, this year it is planned to sell 10 thousand cars through 65 GAZ dealerships in 12 Russian regions. The price of the Cyber is rather big: for the base car with a 2-liter engine and a manual gearbox, they ask for 540 thousand rubles. The version with a 2.4 liter engine and automatic will cost 590 thousand; the same, but with a leather interior (grade "luxury") will cost 640 thousand.
"Ancestor" - the American Chrysler-Sebring limousine in Russia, consider it was not for sale. The Cyber has undergone minor changes compared to it: other bumpers, a radiator grille, taillights, driver's and front passenger's seats. Other suspension settings, increased ground clearance. That's all for now. Yes, there was also a GAZ nameplate!
In any case, selling a new car will not be easy. Marketers from Nizhny Novgorod see this as a potential owner: a man of 30–45 years old, a family man, owner of his own business or manager, for whom Cyber is the first foreign car. But this man has yet to be convinced that his choice is precisely the new GAZ car! To do this, a large-scale advertising campaign will unfold from the end of summer. At the same time, training is underway for specialists in car sales and maintenance. The task is to organize high-quality car support at all stages of the life cycle, and not only in large cities. Namely, it, first of all, should influence the decision to buy GAZ brand products. Plus - a long warranty (3 years or 100 thousand km for a car, 6 years - for a body). In the summer, GAZ also plans to launch a branded loan program - as promised, it is very beneficial for the consumer. If everything works, then next year they are going to sell 45 thousand "cyber", and new configurations will appear.
